Tremme

[edit]

I came across the term "tremme" in some work I was doing. I gather it has to do with using a "tremme pipe" essentially to fill a hole with concrete from bottom to top rather than simply pouring from the top. Apparently this is useful in preventing damage to the rebar structure during the pouring process and for ensuring uniformity of the concrete mix in deep holes (such as filling pipe pilings, etc.) It would be good if someone with expert knowledge could write a section on this aspect of concrete pumping.
