concrete
[edit]perhaps a stupid question: but are the cows actually made of concrete or not? if not, what? 80.168.29.18 12:44, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- not - see the article under Trivia. --Concrete Cowboy 17:29, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- The Cows are not actually made of concrete. They were assembled from bits and scraps, and skinned with fibre glass reinforced ciment fondu.
Conceptual Art
[edit]According to the Conceptual Art article the idiom started in 1913 with Duchamp so the Cows coming in 65 years later is hardly an early example so have changed that. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 212.85.13.68 (talk) 11:24, 13 February 2007 (UTC).
- No, the article says that Marcel Duchamp's famous urinal "paved the way" but it was Dadaist, not conceptualist &ndash a term that took another 50 years to emerge. See also Art & Language for UK-specific context. (The conceptual art and the Art & Language articles proposes 1969: these movements are usually recognised in retrospect).--John Maynard Friedman (talk) 23:15, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
where are they now?
[edit]The Newspaper article says they were due to be removed from the shopping centre in November 2009. I seem to remember something about them going "travelling".
It seems to me that they should be in their original location - removing them is like moving the Eiffel Tower to London - the location is half the battle! Visitors to the area will have no idea where they are located. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.86.37.207 (talk) 15:38, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
- Someone is confused. They were moved from their original location in Bancroft and resited under the Oak Tree in CMK. However, copies were put at the original site. So there is no problem! --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 16:34, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
