This article says that opossums are thought to have started migrating recently to the U.S. Surely they have lived here for a very long time. I certainly saw one in Michigan in the 1980's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bhutamsa (talkcontribs) 19:05, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article says that this species of opossum is thought to be moving into the US. The species you saw was certainly the Virginia Opossum. --76.28.236.209 (talk) 04:31, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Range

[edit]

I do not think the range map is very accurate - we certainly have gambá here in south eastern Brazil, well outside of the range shown. Here's an example of one: [1]; they're not uncommon.

The stated range is quite clearly what the source says, however, and I haven't yet found a better one. If anyone can perhaps they could arrange for it to be corrected?

Of course it's possible I'm missing something which explains the discrepancy?

Edit: I've just noticed that the source is not entirely self-consistent either. It includes Argentina in the list of countries in range but on the map shows it stopping well short of there.

Ah! I see, I think. Our gambá is probably the big-eared opossum. Bagunceiro (talk) 12:19, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
