Closure of (some) letters pages

[edit]

Does anyone have any sources for the - alleged - reasoning behind the removal of the DC (Vertigo) letters pages in the late 90s/early 00s. Namely that Morrison (Invisibles), Ennis (Preacher) and Ellis (Transmetropolitan) in particular were cutting close to the bone with discussions of sex, drugs and related themes. I recall hearing several people - including of the authers - talking about this, but can't remember if it was widely reported, or only rumoured. ntnon (talk) 03:06, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure. You've probably seen this, but it talks about LCs. More [1] [2] - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 03:44, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm... the second one almost touches upon this (but is probably unusable as a source, even if it were more specifically useful), but the former doesn't seem to cover this rumoured (sub-)reason at all. Not unreasonably. It's likely that DC won't have gone on record on this matter..! I'll keep looking in any case, since it's a potentially interesting insight. ntnon (talk) 03:54, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Now that the article is really taking shape, I would love for someone to track down and verify this rumor... -- Stoshmaster (talk) 16:41, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Example

[edit]

If anyone has an example of a lettercol, I believe it would benefit this article to include it. The article explains lettercols but it would be great to actually have one in the article as either a quoted exert or a scan from a comic book. JosephSpiral (talk) 01:33, 2 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Letterhacks

[edit]

The letterhack I remember, who seemed to appear everywhere, was named like Charles S. Novinsky or something like that. I found this page hoping I could learn a bit more about him. I'll need to dig through old books and find that name and add it. That guy was everywhere. Bradydale (talk) 19:17, 27 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
