Carpool
[edit]Someone added "based on Carpool (web series)" to the article. I'm not sure about that, unless there's an official acknowledgement somewhere, but it's clearly been called a rip-off. Refs for future work: [1], [2], [3]. HTH. —Quiddity (talk) 05:38, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
The Carpool thing is unqualified. There seems to be a lot of people who seemed to like Carpool trying to shoehorn references in whether they actually think Seinfeld ripped it off or they just want it to get some kind of recognition. Officially though, there isn't even any proof that Seinfeld saw Carpool and I'd be surprised if he did because they're quite different shows. He's just taking the comedy talk show/podcast/interview thing that is pretty popular at the moment and transposing it to something he enjoys, which is classic cars. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.241.253.126 (talk) 16:44, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
This Daily Beast article confirms Seinfeld was unfamiliar with Carpool.[4]
Though Seinfeld declined to be interviewed for this article, his spokesperson confirmed with The Daily Beast that he was “not at all familiar with” Carpool. Crackle, Sony’s digital network that houses Comedians, directed all questions about the web series to the comedian’s spokesperson, who on Monday pointed out a breezy FAQ uploaded that day to the series’ Facebook page. In response to why he made Comedians, Seinfeld said, “talk shows and interviews can’t let you see this other side of the comedy world.” NinaSpezz (talk) 15:02, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
- I think the correct information to be gleaned from the references cited above is that the format is similar; that some Carpool fans have called it a "ripoff"; that according to Seinfeld there is no connection; and that the "copying," such as it is, is not considered legally actionable by the principal of Carpool. There is no source for a legal opinion on the matter, but the alleged wrong seems to have little basis in law. User:Fred Bauder Talk 15:38, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
https://twitter.com/JerrySeinfeld/status/344829713014980609 - He just said yesterday on Twitter that there's 6 episodes this season. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.118.27.161 (talk) 17:23, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
RfC: How to handle "based on Carpool (web series)"?
[edit]Based on the discussion and refs above, how should the related language in this article be edited? NinaSpezz (talk) 19:09, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
- Just as it is now—a See also listing in each article, with a brief annotation that they're shows of similar format. It's WP:OR otherwise, and unless this becomes an issue, focusing on it becomes WP:UNDUE. --BDD (talk) 21:10, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
Single Shots!
[edit]what exactly ARE these and why aren't they even MENTIONED in this article?!
elsewhere they are described as short "promos" or "recaps" for each ep, but they don't even line up quantity wise. i see s01 "15 eps" and s02 "23 eps", as opposed to "11" and "6" for the series itself. s03 appears to have 9 eps so far; cf 7 for s03 of the main series (which is already past s06, btw).
when were these released? website sounds like they were interwoven with the real eps -- in line with the descriptions as "promos" and "recaps" -- but that can only last so long, given the differences in numbers of seasons and numbers of eps per season.
i cannot believe that something so closely linked to this series is not even MENTIONED in this article anywhere! someone pls remedy this!! 209.172.23.164 (talk) 06:00, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
Season 9 screwy
[edit]what the heck is going on. it was supposed to be ep 1 on 5 jan and ep 2 on 12 jan, but as another editor finally noticed, both came out on 5 jan. on top of which ep 3 (cedric) was out by the 7th...I'VE SEEN IT!
did all 6 eps end up released in sync? i know netflix and some others do that, but i haven't noticed it before on this series.
so far no signs of ep4. or even info as to which guest. isn't there at least a "planned" sched this year? other years i think that chart was filled out before the series even started. 209.172.23.183 (talk) 03:32, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
- again, what's the point of putting 19 jan for cedric when it came out 2 weeks ago?! i'd like to "be bold" and change it to 7 jan, but i'll await input from others.

Superdave!
[edit]I highly doubt "Bob Einstein" is an upcoming guest, since he has been on before. CiCgC has never repeated a guest; hardly seems the guy they would begin with. 209.172.23.79 (talk) 03:37, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
- i stand corrected!
- how odd. first and only guest to come back. 209.172.23.89 (talk) 03:42, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

more claims of prior art
[edit]dailymotion is hosting flipped copies of the show, since it's now only available on netflix & not at the old site; amongst the clips uploaded there is a short piece saying that actor Christian Charles is suing Seinfeld, having pitched the show at him in 2002 & then been cut out of the show's subsequent production & success. no way to verify this yet, but here's a link to the dm piece in case this actually flares up into a thing.

Netflix episode order
[edit]As the episode list currently is written, it just isn't reader-friendly when trying to read the list with the Netflix season ("collection") and episode order. The Netflix order has split the 9 seasons into 4 collections and reordered episodes from all 9 seasons. Is there any technical way of making this two lists for the user to choose from? Seeing as how the original order is not even available anymore, this feels like a wrong way of handling this. --Gonnym (talk) 22:37, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- I second this. A major +1. A new article sub-section clearly called, "Netflix Episode Order," wouldn't be tough. I'd do it all up, @Gonnym: ..but it would merely be instantly reversed and taken down! -From Peter {a.k.a. Vid2vid (talk | contribs)} 04:14, 29 December 2020 (UTC).
- I would do the Netflix cross reference if somebody else would implement it and if it won't be instantly reverted (and why would it?) Bluepost22 (talk) 14:38, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
Barry Marder not as co-inventor / original concept?
[edit]I thought that in Episode# 84 overall (2019) i.e. S#11.12 featuring Jerry's friend Barry Marder that the two gents had discussed how Barry had helped form the show's concept, no? -From Peter {a.k.a. Vid2vid (talk | contribs)} 04:09, 29 December 2020 (UTC).
Why is the George Costanza (Jason Alexander) episode from 'Comedians in cars getting coffee' not on netflix UK???

- It was produced as a Super Bowl special, which probably means the rights are tied up (as with the Michael Richards Crackle president sketches). It could probably be found by searching online, but I wouldn't know about that. UpdateNerd (talk) 03:31, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
