What relevance does the shooting of Steven Sealey have? And who is he, other than a friend of Bobby Brown? And who is Bobby Brown for that matter, other than Whitney Houston's husband? And for that matter was Whitney Houston, herself, present when this happened, or was it only her car? Please write articles assuming a reader knows nothing about the people mentioned, and the article is written to inform them. Otherwise, this seems like dropping the names of famous people into an article without providing enough explanation of why the incident is relevant. In this case, Steven Sealey, a known Columbia Point Dawgs member, was about to marry Bobby Brown's sister, so his murder as a result of being fatally shot by a rival gang member suddenly makes sense. Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston, and her car a collateral damage. The facts are all mentioned in the cited source and should have been mentioned in the article, too. Not mining the source for the relevant facts makes it a pain for interested readers to extract, as the source keeps insisting readers obtain a subscription. However, leaving the information in the source and editing it out of the Wikipedia article results in a paragraph that appears to be irrelevant name dropping covering up a murder in plain sight! To say someone was shot without mentioning the shots were fatal is a form of bias by omission. If an event is important enough to be worth mentioning in an article then it needs to be demonstrably relevant within the article too. Yes, editors should summarize sources, but the important fact is that known Columbia Point Dawgs member Steven Sealey was murdered by a rival gang member and this started a decades long turf war. The involvement of Brown and Houston, while interesting, are almost incidental. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 12:01, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
