Next steps - including publications

[edit]

This new biography article has been created starting with a translation of an existing article in the German Wikipedia: de:Colin_M._Miskelly. I have added new content and additional citations, plus headings and an Infobox. I am uncertain about how best to proceed with the publications section. The subject has a long list of publications and the full list would be far too much for this article. Ideally, some key publications would be listed, complete with links to where they are available online. Any assistance would be great. Marshelec (talk) 01:31, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I note that an actual date of birth is given on the German version. Is there any reason why it wasn't included here? Grutness...wha? 06:56, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Grutness Thanks for the feedback. The guidance given in WP:DOB is: Wikipedia includes full names and dates of birth that have been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object to the details being made public.
The DoB given in the German Wikipedia article is probably sourced from a listing I found in the Who’s who in Australasia and the Far East . I have not been able to find any other source for the DoB as yet, although it is in the German Wikipedia article and this article is referenced as the source for the DoB stated in Wikidata. But is that enough to be "widely published", and is the Who's who a reliable source anyway ?. Your thoughts ?_Marshelec (talk) 07:25, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm. Who's Who is usually pretty accurate. It wouldn't exactly count as "widely published", but I'd accept it as a reliable source. Grutness...wha? 07:29, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. I plan to do more work to do on this article, so if I find another source that supports the DoB, I will update the article to include it._Marshelec (talk) 07:34, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, this source suggests that his 21st birthday was just before Christmas 1983, so I think it can be narrowed down in the article to late 1962, even if not to an actual date. Grutness...wha? 07:52, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
