PRehse Thank you for the feedback! I will add more information to this article in order to make it more complete. Could you please elaborate on your rating of the importance level? One’s perception of their social network has been shown to influence, among other things, their interpretation of behavior, their views of other people, and their ability to succeed and rise in organizations. It is important in major areas of research such as social perception and social networks. If you would like to look at a review of some of the research, I would recommend “Cognitive social structures in social network research: A review” by Raina A. Brands (2013). There are many other reviews on social networks that are also on cognitive social structures, although that exact name is not always used. It is important, however, to use precise terminology in order to distinguish between the concepts of social networks as they truly exist and social networks as we perceive them.
