The primary meaning should be given priority

[edit]

I would argue that the monastic term cenobitic monasticism is the PRIMARY MEANING, i.e. the Wikilink "coenobium" should lead automatically to it, with the biological meanings (group of cells; moth name) being addressed in a headnote ("for other uses see Coenobium (DAB)".

Pls consider that

  • Coenocyte is the actual title of the article re. the biological term; coenobium only represents the term for a "coenocytic colony".
  • Coenobia (moth) is the actual title of the article re. the genus of moths, so it only occurs in the plural.

My proposal is quite standard:

  • Wikilinks for cenobium/coenobium, cenobitic/coenobitic, cenobite/coenobite should all redirect automatically to "Cenobitic monasticism".
  • Place a headnote on the page "Cenobitic monasticism" pointing to the DAB page "for other meanings".

I don't want to start an edit war, so can we please agree on it? Thanks. Arminden (talk) 10:08, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
