What is the length of andhara's coastline

[edit]

Moved article back to "Coastal Andhra". Wikipedia's naming conventions states that "Generally, article naming should give priority to what the majority of English speakers would most easily recognize, with a reasonable minimum of ambiguity, while at the same time making linking to those articles easy and second nature." A Google search for "Coastal Andhra" plus Andhra Prasdesh yields 61,500 hits; a search for "Kosta" plus Andhra Pradesh yields only 4670. The article title "Kosta/Coastal Andhra" is difficult to link to. Tom Radulovich 20:18, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Although articles about Andhra Pradesh mention Seemandhra, it's not clear from this article what Seemandhra is, and no mention is made of the socio-political issues. Dadge (talk) 01:36, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jalagam Vengala Rao is not a chief minister from Coastal Andhra. He represented Sattupally in Khammam. Even though he was born in Srikakulam. I have not seen any article when he moved from Sri kakulam to Khammam. All his politcal career, he represented from Khammam. I have uploaded some information on Livelihoods of people in Coastal andhra and edited part of the text in the first paragraph. Also added information about Pulicat lagoon and the statistics about the wetlands in Coastal Andhra.--59.96.158.196 11:12, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Coastal AndhraKosta Andhra – The name "Kosta Andhra" is appropriate as per WP:COMMONNAME + historical significance and also there is no specific reason why an un-common English name "Coastal Andhra" has been put by removing the popular and common name 456legend(talk) 07:47, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:USEENGLISH based on the Google Ngrams. Rreagan007 (talk) 01:39, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support The term "Coastal Andhra" must mean for the entire coastal areas of Andhra. But the map shown in the article shows only a specific portion of the coastal areas, which denotes that "Kosta Andhra" is a specific region, and doesn't not directly mean the English meaning of "Coastal". --Haoreima (talk) 09:36, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Coastal Andhra is the most widely used term in English language sources. Also, the article as it stands has many errors. Coastal Andhra refers to all of Andhra Pradesh along the Bay of Bengal coast. The map needs to be changed. If in certain contexts, the term has a narrower meaning that needs to be mentioned. Otherwise, it should include all of Andhra from Srikakulam to Nellore. Reo kwon (talk) 13:03, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
