Clube Atlético Mineiro Reserves and AcademyClube Atlético Mineiro youth sector – The page has been moved by from Clube Atlético Mineiro Youth Squads to Clube Atlético Mineiro Reserves and Academy. The explanation given (in the edit summary) was "Correct naming, see all English clubs". While I understand that the previous title was open to discussion, the "correctness" of Reserves and Academy is well debatable, as well as if the existence of a standard for reserve and youth team articles of English clubs have means it applies to clubs from other countries.

The choice for the original title was not random, thoughtless or due to lack of knowledge. When the article was created, I was well aware of the standard for English clubs, but considered it just didn't apply in the case of a Brazilian team. The reasons why "all English clubs" have Reserves and Academy in such articles' titles are the the strong tradition of reserve teams in that country (even with the existence of a specific league for them) and the usage of the term academy for a youth system within a club being almost unanimous. The same cannot be said, however, about other countries.

In Brazilian footballing culture, reserve teams have long been abandoned (since the 1950s), and the Portuguese language equivalent term for academy ("academia"), although existent, is rather uncommon to refer to a club's youth set-up. Different terms for similar (but not exactly the same) things in different footballing countries are part of association football articles in many instances. As an example there is the "manager/head coach" differentiation (a discussion about which can be seen here). In fact, even regarding youth set-ups of non-English clubs there is little to no consensus: Juventus F.C. Youth Sector, Borussia Dortmund Youth Sector, S.S.C. Napoli Youth Sector, Parma Calcio 1913 youth teams, Bayern Munich Junior Team, Ajax Youth Academy, FC Porto Juniors, A.C. Milan Primavera are all examples of the different terms (more can be seen here and here). Of course it's understood that reserve teams and youth teams are not the same thing and should not be confused.

In light of that, while I was also unsure about the usage of Youth Squads (even regarding the capitalization) in the title, I oppose the idea of of the inclusion of Reserves and Academy in it. As the article is intended to cover Atlético Mineiro's youth set-up as a whole and not a specific team (and doesn't mention a reserve one), I propose the change to Atlético Mineiro youth sector per WP:PRECISE. The lack of capitalization derives from WP:NCCAPS, as it's not an official proper name, but a generic designation. Felipebini (talk) 14:57, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
