"xxx miles"

[edit]

Clovis is 9 miles to the west of the Texas state line, at the confluence of Texico, New Mexico, and Farwell, Texas and xxx miles from the Colorado border to the north.

Clovis is xxx miles from Albuquerque to the west, xxx miles from Roswell to the south, xxx miles from Las Cruces to the southwest, and xxx miles from Raton to the north. It is almost equidistant between Amarillo and Lubbock, Texas, to the northeast and southeast, respectively. It is xxx miles from Pueblo, Colorado.

The number of miles for each of these distances has been left unidentified since August 2005. --Metropolitan90 04:17, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What about Clovis High School football?

[edit]

Clovis High School football dominated the state in the 1980's, and is still a powerhouse. Probably should be included.

Hrm...I agree, particularly given the importance that high school football seems to have on the culture of the region. Someone else might be better qualified to do this section than me though. I just went to my second CHS football game last night, so I'm a CHS noob :) --Raogden 20:31, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To Do

[edit]

(I don't know how to make one of those fancy "to do" boxes, but lets make a list here of things that need to be done for this article to make it high quality) --Raogden 20:32, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Committee of Fifty

[edit]

I've never heard the term "Group of Fifty", and I live in Clovis. I always hear "Committee". In any event, they don't number exactly fifty; their charter permits as many as 59. It's not actually possible to determine who the 50 wealthiest people in Clovis are (how do you know I'm not one?). I suggest looking a little more carefully into who this group invites to be a member. The claims made about the ethanol plant are highly disputed, but are mysteriously placed here as fact. The "cowdung" language is inherently biased. Marc W. Abel 23:09, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's very interesting that the mayor is also the owner of the biggest real estate company in the area, Coldwell Banker/Colonial Real Estate, and is also the chair of the Plains Regional Medical Center. Coincidence? Combat mp (talk) 21:28, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Organization

This article needs to be tightened up and reorganized.PJtP 02:21, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Population

[edit]

On both the north and south entrances of the city, there are two different figures portrayed as the population. Nobody has mentioned this, and I was curious why not? MikeEstrada

What signs show the population? All of the official city limits signs I've seen in New Mexico show the elevation, rather than the population. Unlike Texas, which shows population instead of elevation. →Wordbuilder (talk) 19:28, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

Guywets has added three images of standing water that purportedly occurred as the result of a thunderstorm in 1980. Due to the small amount of text in the "Climate and landscape" section, the lone section where these wouldn't be out of place, only one of the images fits. The other images are on Wikimedia Commons which is linked to at the bottom of the article. I've reverted the edits more than once. However, I wanted to open a discussion so we could reach consensus as to whether or not all three of the images belong even if they are in sections that have nothing to do with weather or flooding. →Wordbuilder (talk) 19:37, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Undue

[edit]

The history section is 8/10ths about negative stuff. For a settlement that has been around over 100 years I'm sure more has happened there than WW2 concentration camps and a prison break. Kindzmarauli (talk) 18:29, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
