Everyone in the stadium, including the Redskins, knew that the only chance for Dallas, which had no timeouts left, was a long touchdown play. All the Redskins had to do was lay back and double cover the receivers and that would be it. Breakdown But their defensive coverage, which included an extra back, broke down, and Pearson outran Ken Stone to take the pass from Longley. The play was Longley’s own call, a modification of one sent in by Coach Tom Landry. . . ”
