Why do clinical trials units exist?
[edit]This seems to be be the big question which isn't answered by this article at the moment! I can see two possible reasons:
- Economic; it might not be economic for many small- to medium-sized drug companies to keep the skilled staff in-house
- Scientific; a clinical trial supervized from outside the devolping company might get a more favourable hearing than one organized entirely in-house.
Do we have any clear evidence to support either of these hypotheses? Physchim62 (talk) 00:11, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Regulation around the world?
[edit]I've found plenty of information on CTUs outside of the UK (see, for instance, [1]) but have not found any information on what regulatory bodies, if any, govern them. It would be great if this could be expanded with sourced content explaining who oversees CTUs elsewhere in the world. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:23, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
