I remember Mr. Cooper from the 50s. I worked as a student desk attendant for the Detroit Public Library. Mr. Cooper came in often to research and read. We were a neighborhood branch. I began to talk with him. I found that he was publishing what I beleive was his first book: "The Scene." I loaned him my typewriter (which I never recovered) to finish his book. I went to his house and was instrumental in getting the professional librarians interested in his book and having it included in the DPL book collection. He had his book published and I never saw him after that. I always wondered what happened to him. I am glad that he was able to write other books and he enjoyed that kind of success before his demise. I guess I always felt a part of his effort especially with investment of my typewriter. I was a teen age columnist with the Detroit Pittssburg Courier newspaper at that time so he was an inspiration for me. I pray that your soul is at restful creating Mr. Cooper you did contribute to us as you could and we appreciate you. gary l bennett benn7702004@yahoo.com. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.102.184.211 (talk) 11:44, November 10, 2008
