Targeted for revision
[edit]This article is targeted for continual improvement by the Civil-military relations community. Inbody (talk) 23:48, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Significant figures in civil-military relations
[edit]The list is preliminary and many do not have entries in Wikipedia. If you are interested in taking on one of those entries, please let us know. Also, if there are other who have or are making significant contributions to the field of civil-military relations, please add them. For example, there are many scholars who have been working on Latin American and Eastern European civmil who are not mentioned here. I think Zoltan Barany and Wendy Hunter might be two excellent candidates. Also, who are the non-US contributors?
Supporting materials
[edit]Regarding the above: What sorts of additional supporting materials would be appropriate for this subject? This is not strictly military history, but moves into political science and sociology as well. I would propose a new project...a civil-military relations project. Inbody (talk) 16:43, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- Difficult question. Perhaps an image of ROTC cadets in the 'Convergence Theory' section, but other sections will need appropriate images too. Sorry if that is not helpful. Interesting topic, I studied this briefly in my masters degree. Seems like you have done a good job on it, but I am certainly no expert. The article would clearly be a B class or higher if some images can be found. — AustralianRupert (talk) 23:36, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Hmmm, images? This article has been peer reviewed in the civil-military community (but not within Wikipedia). It seems that such images would be gratuitous, at best, and not adding to the real import of knowledge. I am not convinced that this article is actually lacking anything. Inbody (talk) 13:20, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
This article appears to be quite adequate as it stands...there is certainly no "technical details" missing. I don't understand the issue. Make this one Class B or even A. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.113.238.93 (talk) 15:31, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Still looking for advice on what sorts of "supporting" or "technical" details might be appropriate for this subject. I am inclined to drop this topic from the Military History group if I see no further assistance. This topic is more appropriate for politics or political theory. Inbody (talk) 18:50, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Given no additional input, I removed the Military History group. I will be happy to agree to adding it back if there is more discussion about it that bears on improving the page. Inbody (talk) 15:42, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
I see that the Military History group has re-entered the fray. Thanks. I would also hope that others would engage in helping to complete this civil-military project as well. Hope to meet more of you. Inbody (talk) 02:41, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Development

This page was just added (thanks), but needs more data and referenced information:
- Rebecca L. Schiff (completed)
Other pages that should be updated to better reflect the application to civil-military relations are:
Need help for these pages!
Pages that should be developed are:
- Alfred Vagts
- military professionalism
- military institutions
- Post-Modern Military Model
- political elites
- Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society
It will also be helpful if other Wikipedia pages can be identified to point to this page.
Please propose other pages related to Civil-Military Relations that should be updated and linked to this one.
Volunteers to translate the page into other languages will also be most helpful.

Globalize
[edit]Most of the examples and noted contributors to the CMR field are US based. As a field of political/military science, CMR has broad applicability across regions. The section on Afghanistan is a good start to globalize.
