North West?

[edit]

The info box I have imported from Townsville City Council had Coral Sea in the North West corner, I would have thought Thuringowa would have been North-West or maybe Hinchinbrook depending on where the boarder goes in the sea... WikiTownsvillian 09:59, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect

[edit]

If there are no objections I will redirect the Townsville City Council article to this article per discussion in Talk:Townsville, Queensland. Thanks, WikiTownsvillian 09:59, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Council members being ALP or independent

[edit]

Do we have citations for this information? Being mindful of WP:BLP Kerry (talk) 06:01, 25 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion of political parties in the table of mayor and councillors

[edit]

I have removed the column listing political parties as this appears to be uncited original research. The Qld Electoral Commission citations do not mention affiliation with any formal political parties in the 2020 election or 2021 by-election. The candidates either contested as independent or Team Jean Hill or other groupings (which are not politicial parties). While the elected councillors may be members of a political party, if they did not seek election as being a candidate of that party, then it's not appropriate to say serve on the council as a member of that party. List of mayors

[edit]

@Totallynotarandomalt69: I don't mind having the list of mayors shifted into its own article but the list was full of citations which have been lost in the transition. Please add all the citations into the new article or rollback to the old article. Citations aren't optional. Kerry (talk) 05:34, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Should be fixed now Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 05:48, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what you fixed, but I am talking about the List of mayors of Townsville. The list when it was in this article had citations, you removed the list in <nowiki> this edit but those citations don't appear in the new list article. Now I do like the new table layout and the addition of photos but we do still need the citations. Kerry (talk) 07:07, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I might be making a mistake but the citations are in the article? They're in the opening sections, I've just removed the constant copy-paste next to every single name on the list as a bit of a cleanup Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 07:08, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Each mayor has different citations, some of which are shared, others are not. Citations must remain textually close to the material they support, ideally no more and no less. Otherwise there is a violation of source-text integrity. So moving the sources to the top of article is not a clean-up but a loss of verifiability of any given fact. Each mayor needs the sources that verify what is being said about them, no more, no less, as it was in the original list. I would suggest putting a Notes column on the right and put the individual citations (as applicable) there; that's usually the easiest way to deal with them (and also provides space for any additional commentary, there's invariably someone who dropped-out or died during their tenure whcih may need to be commented on and the original list did contain such commentary) Kerry (talk) 07:26, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea re notes column, I'll add that now Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 07:27, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
