From the lead: Cingular Wireless LLC was the largest United States mobile phone company, with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Cingular, formed in 2001, was a joint venture of the American landline telephone companies AT&T and BellSouth (formerly known as SBC Communications). The two companies held 60% and 40% stakes in Cingular, respectively, based on the value of the assets each company contributed to the venture. Cingular was the second largest mobile phone carrier in the United States.

Merge proposal

Merge its still the same company. I don't see why we have to have two separate articles. All that changed was the name. Besides, AT&T owned 60% of the company before the BellSouth merger anyways. Jgera5 (talk) 23:04, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This page should be merged into AT&T Mobility. Cingular is no different today than it was before 2007 other than its name, now AT&T Mobility, and the fact that it is wholly owned. I completely agree with KansasCity. It is very true that Cingular is now 'off the radar' and www.cingular.com (former Cingular wireless website) directs to wireless.att.com (the AT&T Mobility website). Also, as stated above the concepts are addressed in the current AT&T Mobility article, and I second the merging of these articles. [\<C>/] (talk) 04:09, 11 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
