CE Tagging

[edit]

@Vaticidalprophet: - you tagged the article for CE and confusing which honestly surprises me a lot - what exactly makes you feel confusing and why do you think it needs to be CE ? CommanderWaterford (talk) 23:07, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for following up, @CommanderWaterford. I found this through WP:GAN, and I considered putting a quickfail in, but I felt like that would be rubbing salt in the wound; nonetheless, this article does need a lot of work. There are pretty frequent proofreading/formatting errors from the lede down; foreign titles are never italicized, quotation marks are misplaced (the ones in the lede being poorly proofread is not really enticing to GAN), paragraphs are broken up (see the second/third para in "Time reference and personal background"). As for confusion, a lot of the language seems to be recently translated and poorly/oddly written. The "Contents" section is just a summary of the poem in poor prose, some of which is difficult to parse the meaning of (e.g. "A Christmas tree was not necessary, Christmas could also be enjoyed on the street, and Christianity proclaimed from the church tower increased intelligence."). This also occurs further down.
I'd recommend having a lot of eyes on this article before you take it to GAN, from people who have experience with significant article revision. I trust it can become a GA eventually, but as it stands, it needs substantial work. The bones seem okay, inasmuch as the article is understandable -- it does seem to hit the right beats -- but the prose needs major revision.
