Christine Leadman is a candidate for City Councillor in the Kitchissippi Ward in the 2006 municipal election in Ottawa, Ontario Canada.
Christine’s family roots are in Kitchissippi as her husband and two daughters were born in the Grace Hospital, the girls went to public schools in the area, and all still live and work in the neighbourhood.
Christine has extensive community involvement in both Kitchissippi and the City of Ottawa. She has been Executive Director of the Westboro Business Improvement Area in Kitchissippi for the past 14 years, founding co-producer of WestFest, winner of the Council for the Arts in Ottawa award, and named as "One of Five who made a difference In Ottawa" by the Ottawa Sun.
Christine has been instrumental in local initiatives such as Community Policing, Youth After School Program, Traffic Calming Guidelines Committee, Public Advisory Committee, Waste Management, and the Public Advisory Committee.
Christine has actively vounteered and supported many local charities such as the Toy Mountain Campaign, the Elvis Sighting Society Annual Beanfest, SOS Children's Villages Canada, YMCA-YWCA, Dovercourt Recreation Centre, the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Trust, The Ottawa Art Gallery, The Great Canadian Theatre Company, Ottawa West Kiwanis Club and local families in need.
