PROD removal
[edit]PROD concern stated as "Article created by a blocked UPE there is a draft article that has been declined and this was created despite that."
This article was created in March 2019, and several editors have contributed to it. At the time it was PRODded, it had only two sources. Additional sources are available which give much more information about the subject's career, and an award. I have started adding sources and information. This should at least go to AfD - regardless of who created it, the subject may be notable. RebeccaGreen (talk) 10:24, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- @RebeccaGreen: Traditionally when we come across the work of an WP:UPE that is in clear violation of policy we blow up their creations in order to eradicate the traces of undeclared paid editing. Who created it is important because if we leave their work we are encouraging them to continue to edit until they get caught out without fear of any consequences for their clients; Taking it to AFD is a waste of everyone's time because as a paid edit it should have at least gone through WP:AFC which is why I draftified most of their work but this one already has a draft article. --Dom from Paris (talk) 14:05, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Domdeparis: Thanks for your explanation. I have now looked at this editor's talk page, and I see that you have moved about 15 of his articles to draft space. I do now see that there is a draft article about this subject too - sorry, I did not take that in. But I am not quite clear - the articles that are in draft space could be edited by others, couldn't they? Would it be better if I edited Draft:Christine Alalo? That draft and this article actually have different information about her, so would be better merged .... both suffer from a lack of sources, and neither provides information about the award which the sources I found mention. I am a bit unclear about what to do next. Thanks! RebeccaGreen (talk) 14:34, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- @RebeccaGreen: No problems it was partly my fault I should have been clearer in my prod. I think we can let this one ride especially as the person is sadly deceased so I doubt that there was anything untoward going on here but I am not 100% sure she passes WP:GNG as a WP:BIO1E case. That said the EU Human Rights award might qualify her under WP:ANYBIO as there is only one winner per year. [1]. I think we can leave this article in main space and I will nominate the draft for deletion. Dom from Paris (talk) 15:21, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Domdeparis:, thank you, I will continue to work on this article. I have copied some info in from the draft (with an edit summary saying that - if it would be better to merge, to maintain the history, please let me know! I know that is the case with articles, I am not sure about duplicate drafts written by the same person ...) I will continue checking for and adding more sources. I was not absolutely sure that this person would meet WP:ANYBIO, but when I read about the award, and the work she had done internationally, I thought it was worth trying to find more sources. Thanks again, RebeccaGreen (talk) 15:35, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
- Actually I will just let the draft lie and it will be deleted as a stale draft in a couple of months. Thanks and happy editing. --Dom from Paris (talk) 15:39, 5 August 2019 (UTC)
