Merge

I wouldn't merge this. It could easily be fleshed out with more details.--Mike Selinker 16:57, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article Style

[edit]

This article for the most part reads to me like a biography, and not an encyclopedia article. It needs to be less episodic, less narrative, and more neutral and factual. The spousal abuse section reads more neutral and factual, if the rest of the article was like that it would be a better encyclopedia article. - Owlmonkey (talk) 07:56, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bonnie Lee Bakley

[edit]

The citation format in that section isn't current. And some of the content is speculative. The basic point that Christian was implicated in the murder trial and there were arguments for his involvement, all seem somewhat important to an article about him. But he was never charged with the murder and this article needs to be careful to avoid libel by implying that he was or might be responsible. Even if external citations discussed that possibility, all we can do here is present those views as theirs and not draw conclusions or implication. Thoughts? - Owlmonkey (talk) 18:56, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I fixed the citation format. One of the citations no longer resolves, hoping someone can investigate and fix that. The eyeonthesparrow.blogspot.com citations do not look like a neutral and credible third-party source for an encyclopedia. Those articles read biased and POV to me. And they support a paragraph which I read implies that Christian could have been implicated in spite of some of the citations being quite direct that he was not implicated directly. - Owlmonkey (talk) 19:39, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Let me correct the previous with respect to the Eye of the Sparrow blog, since it has a non-neutral view it's not the best place for encyclopedia citations. It may have unique factual details, because the author is reporting on the case directly, but extra care is required if used because it is a self-published source (see WP:SPS). It was inappropriate to use when Brando was alive, because of guidelines for sources on living people. Citations using it now, however, would require extra care and truly a lack of neutral alternatives. If a fact is truly notable, it should be published in a neutral source as well. - Owlmonkey (talk) 06:58, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Why does the following paragraph belong at all here, it's not about Christian at all... it belongs in the Robert Blake page if at all. If there's something specific to Mr. Brando about the alternate theory then this section needs to be specific and backed up with credible citations.
Blake's successful criminal trial attorney, M. Gerald Schwartzbach, was so outraged at the civil trial verdict, the misconduct of the jury and by LAPD Detective Ron Y. Ito's actions against Brian Allan Fiebelkorn, that he agreed to represent Blake once again for the appeal of the civil trial verdict.[15][16] Although Blake was acquitted in the criminal trial, trial watchers surmised that Schwartzbach would be justified in his anger at the LAPD's suppression of the tape of Brian Allan Fiebelkorn's interview. If that taped interview of Fiebelkorn was turned over in discovery before the criminal trial, it could have helped Schwartzbach present the alternate theory implicating others in Bakley's murder that the Judge refused to allow into the trial.[17] The Associated Press on January 19, 2007 reported that a formal complaint was filed against the LAPD and detective Ron Ito by M. Gerald Schwartzbach and Brian Allan Fiebelkorn.[18] An appeal was filed on February 28, 2007.[19]
This paragraph speculates that Christian might be further implicated, but it's all speculative... e.g. If it could be proven that and in others being implicated... this needs to be removed.
During testimony in the Bakley family vs. Robert Blake civil trial, evidence came to light that LAPD Detective Ron Y. Ito surreptitiously recorded one of the LAPD interviews of Brian Allan Fiebelkorn before the criminal trial, but never turned it over to the defense in discovery (a direct violation of court orders).[13] According to trial witnesses, the tape was played in civil court and documented that LAPD detective Ron Y. Ito intimidated Fiebelkorn by inferring that he was involved in the murder.[14] If it could be proven that Duffy Hambleton did have a connection to Christian Brando, the plaintiff's claim against Robert Blake would be in jeopardy. If this tape was turned over to the Blake defense team before the criminal trial against Blake, the murder investigation may have resulted in others being implicated for the murder.
I'm removing those two sections for now, please discuss here if you have re-writes for them or issues with this. - Owlmonkey (talk) 19:49, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, can this be substantiated? it also doesn't relate directly to this article about Brando. removing for now. which witnesses? witnesses to the murder? witnesses in the trial? who exactly? citations?
Witnesses testified that LAPD detectives refused to investigate this information because it was contrary to the prosecution's theory of the murder and in fact, implicated Duffy Hambleton (the LAPD and prosecution's key witness) in the murder conspiracy.
I'm also rewriting that section to be more specific to the allegations and involvement of mr. brando in the case. this article is about him, not that case generally. can someone please figure out which specific testimony / witnesses said what with citations? Even with this cleanup it's a little weasel wordy, just claiming 'someone' said this and that which is not up to encyclopedic standards. Citing specific people would improve the quality of this article. - Owlmonkey (talk) 20:26, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After all this work, I'm thinking now that it would be better to break the details of the murder trial into a separate article. I asked cnnfox (talk · contribs) if they would like to start it, from a discussion on a related page. But an article about the murder, investigation, and two trials with a chronological timeline would really help make this material more clear and would then also move the details of the case - which might be less notable about any particular notable person - into a place that will help add context but not unbalance a particular article. This article is quite unbalanced as it stands right now, because the Bakley murder content is significantly larger than the manslaughter and spousal abuse convictions for brando. But a separate article would then also help add value to related articles about cooley, blake, and bakley without unbalancing them. - Owlmonkey (talk) 18:32, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1988 son?

[edit]

The article says he was survived by his son Michael Brando, born in 1988. Can anyone find sources to confirm this, and a source as to who the mother of this alleged child was? I myself wasn't able to find sources for this, and the son was not mentioned in Christian's 2008 obituary, meaning that the son went undiscovered untill very recently. Mythic Writerlord (talk) 15:01, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I also read an obituary where it says "Unlike his father, who had nine children, Christian Brando had none." Michael Brando who is claimed to be his son can be easily found by googling, but I cannot find a reliable source that confirms the link between him and Christian Brando. Till someone offers something appropriate I will delete this information, because IMDb, Bing and Google are definitely not sufficient references. --Clemens (Talk) 10:22, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Moved mug shot

[edit]

It seems to be a bit disingenuous to represent this individual's 49+ years life with the use of a mug shot in the Infobox (regardless of his convictions, and other legal entanglements). I've pushed the image down to the section covering with his manslaughter arrest and trial. Somebody, please feel free to provide a more neutral public domain photo for the box (I did a cursory search, but didn't find one). - Chachap (talk) 19:42, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Stephen Blackehart

[edit]

I will remove Stephen Blackehart from the infobox. Blackehart has denied being related to Marlon Brando, and therefore, he is not Christian Brando's sibling or half-brother. Please see this. Thank you. Bluhy23 (talk) 21:51, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That does not mean therefore just that he doesn't think he is. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 21:56, 23 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There is no real source for the information that Christian Brando made movies as a child. It was not him at all

[edit]

This information is fake and it is not good idea to add it here . Since it is fake 2.89.94.16 (talk) 23:51, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In pop culture

[edit]

There is a one-man show called Wild Son: The Testimony of Christian Brando, starring John Mese. It just finished its run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. I don't know how best to mention this in the CB article, but I just wanted to drop that here, because maybe there might be a way to incorporate that, and maybe someone who checks this talk page might have an idea how to do it. --Geekyroyalaficionado (talk) 23:25, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
