Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted. Tegen was the most prominent architect in a local area, and created two courthouses listed on the National Register of Historic Places for their architecture. You try to do that! --doncram 20:29, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The speedy deletion tagging is really unnecessary. The article already does indicate importance (perhaps more subtly than you like) as he is an architect of multiple notable buildings. Also, I was actively editing it, and it was marked "under construction". User:Largoplazo, what are you thinking? --doncram 20:35, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't feel that being a local architect conveys encyclopedic significance. The article doesn't say anything about his works being in the NRHP, and it wouldn't be clear to the casual reader that a particular set of buildings in a small town in Wisconsin would have notability outside their immediate area. I'm a little puzzled that you think that this should have been obvious.
Nevertheless, you can certainly convey his significance in the article. Even if you do, can you supply resources that will support a finding that he was notable, as Wikipedia defines that term? Applicable guidelines are at WP:GNG and WP:ARTIST. Google comes up with almost nothing, but, of course, he died most of a century before there was a Web. Are there contemporary materials, independent of him, that gave him substantial coverage, or that show that he meets WP:ARTIST? Largoplazo (talk) 20:42, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
