Unsourced timeline and similar major changes

[edit]

This edit back in 2017 introduced a major change without citing any peer reviewed scholarly source. That was inappropriate. I am reverting it back. Please find a quality RS to make such changes to the timeline or other information. Ms Sarah Welch (talk)

@Ms Sarah Welch:, I had added and organised this article in the past. Thank you for updating it with scholarly references and information. The article is titled Chitharal Jain Monuments. Should it be changed to Chitharal Monuments? Because these monuments also include a Hindu temple and the site is also important to Hindus along with Jains. The article now covers more information on Hindu temple than the previous versions. Regards,-Nizil (talk) 05:07, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nizil: I wondered about the title too. The more neutral version, one supported by WP:RS, would be Chitharal Jain Monuments and Bhagavati Temple. Let us not change it right away. Wait a few days or a week, see if there are any additional suggestions, comments or proposal. There is no point triggering too much work for our admins. Two spellings are found in RS: Bhagavati or Bhagawati. The former is somewhat more prevalent. Either is fine with me. Ms Sarah Welch (talk) 13:06, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ms Sarah Welch:, should we rename it now? There has been no comments. I had proposed Chitharal Monuments because it was not too long and can include all monuments including temples and bass relief and this title is without any religious connection. Chitharal Jain Monuments and Bhagavati Temple would be too long. Chitharal is a village near which these monuments are located. ASI inscribed title Bhagawati temple and Jaina bas-relief is too generic and one would never search for such title. -Nizil (talk) 07:09, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Chitharal Jain Monuments and Bhagavati Temple is okay, not too long. Chitharal monuments sounds vague, neither close to the official name nor common in scholarly sources. Ms Sarah Welch (talk) 22:22, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. -Nizil (talk) 04:43, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Temple entrances

[edit]
See two sets of pillars?

To avoid innocent misinformation, please look at this image carefully. On the left 25% of this image, near the reddish bush and where there are no trees, is a set of pillars... that is the entrance to the Jain temple, rock cut mandapa, and the Tirthankara sanctums. Those of the right (65% of the image), nearer to the trees is a separate entrance to the Hindu temple's mandapa and structures, with dvarapalas etc. The Jain and Hindu mandapas are nearly perpendicular to each other. The overlapped portion is the part relating to Padmavati Devi. The white restored vimana is above the rock cut Jain temple. Let us not innocently but incorrectly label Jain temple entrance/pillars/mandapam as Hindu, or vice versa. Ms Sarah Welch (talk) 03:30, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
