ChikmagalurChikkamagaluru — Procedural nom as denied G6. There appears to have been some previous discussion of this and given the name used on the city's website I think this is far from uncontroversial. G6 reason was "Chikkamagaluru is the actual name and the article should also be named the same". Dpmuk (talk) 13:51, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. There has been discussion here. There has been no subsequent order by the government of India regarding name change. Also, check out WP:GOOGLE and WP:COMMONNAME. TheMikeWassup doc? 13:59, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move to correct name

[edit]

From November 1 2014, 12 cities and district names were corrected including the chickkamagaluru, which was wrongly spelled in the English as chikmagalur and chickmagaluru. i request you to move this page chikkamagaluru. see WP:COMMONNAME which says " If the name of a person, group, object, or other article topic changes, then more weight should be given to the name used in reliable sources published after the name change than in those before the change". Chikkamagaluru.Chikmagalur – There is a full stop in this article name that shouldn't be there. It should be moved to either Chikmagalur (commonly-used English name) or Chikkamagaluru (official name). It looks as though the 2014 discussions about moving from Chikmagalur to Chikkamagaluru didn't result in a consensus to move the page, but we may come up with a different answer today. I don't feel strongly either way. Tom Radulovich (talk) 16:18, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
