Last American Compact truck?

I have been reading for the last several days, and noticed that Chrysler and Ford have both stopped making their compact trucks. The Ranger and Dakota are gone, leaving the entire industry to Japanese trucks such as the Tacoma and the Frontier, and the newest Colorado/Canyon. If adding an external link to another site is in violation; then it is suggested that this protocol be carried out on all external websites links. When people add links to sites that contain content far greater than those which are already listed and "moderators" of the section remove them it seems quite biased.

The Colorado, in 2006 models also featured an engine upgrade from the 3.5L Inline 5 to a 3.7L inline 5. Improbcat 19:12, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Was Canyon going to be GMC Avalanche?

I may not be remembering correctly, but I thought I read that the Canyon was going to be the GMC version of the Avalanche a couple of years before it came out. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If it was, it should probably be added to the article. Citadel18080 17:05, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Engine Problems

The untried I-5 engine is a shortened inline six cylinder to five and has suffered notoriously from misfiring and poor valve seating. Typically GM has responded by replacing cylinder heads manufactured from hardened alloys, although the part is often backordered weeks or months. Often the problem is cannot corrected by the dealership. Merger Proposal

The Isuzu I series is identical to the Thai built (International) Colorado except for a single grille moulding. Isuzu changed the terms of its agreement with GM and decided to market the vehicle in its own dealerships. The International Colorado was principally designed by GM, with diesel engines and some other components being supplied by Isuzu, the petrol four and V6 were supplied by Opel.
The Colorado was being sold as a Holden Rodeo in Australia and NZ and changed to Colorado because the Rodeo name was owned by Isuzu. So previous models of the Colorado made in Thailand (which differs from the American models) are referred to as "Holden Rodeo" in Wkipedia.
For the next International model which uses the VM Motori engine, Isuzu built a different factory and sold the "Isuzu D-Max" using the GM bodyshell but Isuzu drivetrain components .101.178.163.92 (talk) 02:49, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Compact or midsize

The first generation Colorado is a Mid-size.

In a pressroom profile for the 2004 Colorado, Chevrolet boasts "All-new mid-size pickup". This archived profile includes a lot of information on the 2004 model year, and Chevrolet also provides these for proceeding model years. Chaysegr (talk) 02:10, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The first-generation Colorado is generally the same size as the Ford Ranger of the time and noticeably smaller than the Dodge Dakota, which was what defined a mid-size pickup in the first place.
