Photo
[edit]Despite a diligent effort, no photos have been found of Charles Schroeter. Searches has been done by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, New York State Archives, San Diego Historical Society, NARA and by others. Very frustrating. Jrcrin001 (talk) 19:21, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

Suggestions
[edit]G'day, per the post on my talk page, I have done some copyediting on the article. I have some suggestions for further developing the article: AustralianRupert (talk) 02:39, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- the Biography section is probably not necessary in my opinion, after all the whole article is a biography (and it creates a certain amount of duplication). I would suggest possibly creating an early life section and then removing anything that is duplicated in the later life section or military service sections;
- the multiple date headings in the Military service section are probably also unnecessary. I suggest reducing them potentially to the following: Civil War service, American-Indian War, Marine Corps service, and Later career;
- the multiple descriptions of height, and eye color, etc are probably not necessary in an encyclopedia entry
- the long list of places that his regiment served at during the Civil War seem to detract from the narrative. The list probably belongs at the unit page (where it would be best converted into prose);
- the section titled "Relative?" seems out of place in the Notes section, equally I think it is potentially too close to original research to include here (just my opinion, though, so I think it would be best to ask this question at a peer review to see what others think prior to removal);
- "Under "Special Order 242, A.Y.O.-94" Charles Schroeter was formally retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant" --> this seems a little too much detail. Does the Army order number matter in an encyclopedia entry? It is probably best just to list the date.
- some of the entries in the See also section probably should be moved to an External links section, as I believe only Wikipedia articles go in See also sections.
Anyway, great work with the article. I hope these comments help in some way. Good luck with taking it further. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 02:39, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
