Greetings! Unfortunately Charles Oliveira was stripped of his title last night due to missing weight, and as such he is no longer UFC Lightweight Champion 😞 This is contrary to what is currently posted on his wiki page, which still lists him as the current champion.

Can we have this fixed? Thank you so much! Spiff339 (talk) 19:22, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
Nevermind UFC released a statement stating he is still champion until the event begins. Apologies and thank you! Spiff339 (talk) 19:23, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

No Charlie Olives?
[edit]I've seen that name thrown around more so than not, why not add it in his other names list? 2600:8801:118:3300:D854:CDDB:9D3A:D58F (talk) 08:45, 10 June 2022 (UTC)

- What I think should be changed: Addition of "glove grab" controversy to "Mixed martial arts career" > "UFC Lightweight Champion" > 2021 > parargaph about Dustin Poirier bout.
- Why it should be changed: It should be mentioned in the description of this bout that there was controversy over a potential glove grab in round two, which is against the rules. One of the commentators of the broadcast, Joe Rogan, pointed this out as well. Poirier was winning the bout on the feet as Oliveira is the stronger grappler but weaker striker, then Oliveira was able to take Poirier to the ground after potentially breaking the rules with the glove grab, keeping his arm trapped, taking him down, then inflicting damage for the rest of the second round. With Poirier being more damaged and exhausted than he would have been on his feet, Oliveira submitted him fairly quickly after the beginning of the following round. Here is one of many articles discussing this controversy: https://www.rt.com/sport/542950-ufc-oliveira-poirier-glove-grab-cheating/

- He was using wrist control, this was later clarified. Joe Rogan doubled down when he shouldn't have. 129.215.35.93 (talk) 14:01, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
