WP:LEAD says, "In general, the emphasis given to material in the lead should reflect its relative importance to the subject, according to reliable sources." putting in a characterization of "private university" in the second sentence of a lead paragraph of a state supported school is a misplacement of emphasis and is a misleading characterization of a complex issue. May choose one of ten specializations? This is straight from AEM's website: "Students must choose at least one of the following 10 specializations by the beginning of their junior year, and may choose no more than two."

They may choose up to two.
