The Playboy Picture

[edit]

I'm not complaining, but is it really that approiate? Kusonaga 14:12, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

shrugs Why not? WP:NOT censored. ;) —Nightstallion (?) 14:29, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, hadn't read that bit there. Then I've got no problem with it whatsoever! Kusonaga 14:32, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's still not really necessary. WarpstarRider 17:30, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's a very tasteful image, and much more representative of the topic than the Playboy issue's cover that was originally there. If only one Playboy image is neccessary, I think the interior picture rather than the cover is what should be here. And as far as questions of "appropriateness" go, I agree with Nigtstallion, WP:NOT's censorship section covers this. Since the article already discusses her appearance in Playboy, I see no reason not to show the image. I don't believe it is in any way obscene, or even particularly pornographic. CriticsCritic 5 February 2006 (UTC)

She is just so hot and if I had my way we would have all the playboy pics on here! :) Govvy 10:47, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What's so wrong with the picture? Can somebody just put the damn picture up again? --213.200.165.75 09:54, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ye, there was nothing wrong with the magazine cover of her on playboy can we have that back? Govvy 13:42, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's back! --213.200.165.75 17:05, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Erm guys, where's this Playboy picture?!? ArdClose (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 17:08, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The picture she has at the moment isn't a very nice one of her can someone change it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.108.203.235 (talk) 11:22, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Leaving Angel

[edit]

Did anyone ever give a reason why Carpenter wasn't a regular on the last season of Angel?--134.130.4.46 (talk) 00:07, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I heard there were allegations that she was fired because she was pregnant, but rumors aren't sources. 108.35.129.34 (talk) 23:29, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

First actual TV appearance is on forensic files (A and E)

[edit]

In her home town, there was a murder at a popular teenage hangout in a park she used to hangout in and drink, do supid high school stuff, anyways a satanic element existed in the town and they end up killing someone she knew. I have sturggled to find this again, until recently i did not think much of it, than on domminic dunne's "justice" they touched on the case, sure enough irght there same interview.

She looks to be like 16-17 wearing a blue and white flannel shirt loose, and light blue jeans.

Just a funny foot note to this actresses early life, i wish i could find so refrences for it, please help...

the forensic file episode aired in like 2000 and i saw the DD justice just about a week ago but it was dated from 2006. hmmmm...you would think someone else would have noticed this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.151.27.12 (talk) 21:57, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That wasn't Charisma. She was already doing pilot TV shows like Baywatch in 1994, and before that TV commercials. She got more prominence with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and then Angel which preceded this supposed Forensic Files show.

Timeline Discrepancy

[edit]

I see a little discrepancy between the Playboy and the Personal Life sections.

  • First it says she appear in Playboy in 2004 and then in a 2005 interview she said it was because she had just had her baby and wanted to feel sexy
  • Next it says her son wasn't born until late 2007

Could someone please check the references and correct this? The ShadowSkull 13:17, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Reread the Personal Life section. It says her son was born on March 24, 2003. She separated from her husband, however, in late 2007. RB 14:12, 25 January 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.76.64.14 (talk)

Incorrect Film Reference in Career Section

[edit]

On the last line of the Career Section it says that she starred in "…Michael Madsen's "The Human Target"...", when in actuality it should say "...Michael Madsen's "The Human Factor"... ". I looked at the Edit page and it appears to be correct there. But it is still wrong on the actual page.J-Mac (talk) 03:07, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sound Spelling

[edit]

I think it's a given that EVERYBODY can pronounce the name Charisma Carpenter. We do not need your condescending sound spellings with an easily pronounceable name like that. We all have heard of the trait of charisma, we all know of the profession of carpenter. When the 2 are put together, a sound spelling is NOT required! Can you people stop thinking we are all stupid?!--67.84.73.254 (talk) 03:21, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You do realize that this page isn't only for native English speakers, who would know how to pronounce it? There's a reason that most all titles in Wikipedia have the pronunciation spelled/sounded out. To not do so, is very ethnocentric, and defeats the purpose of Wikipedia being a global resource.

Place of birth

[edit]

Sources disagree about where Carpenter was born:

  • In Rosarito, Mexico
    • Stafford, Nikki (December 14, 2010). Bite Me!: The Unofficial Guide to the World of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. ECW Press. p. 80. ISBN 978-1-55490-313-9. Retrieved September 1, 2019 – via Google Books. Born on July 23, 1970, in Rosarito, Mexico, Carpenter says she got her name from a "tacky bottle of Avon perfume from the 1970s." She grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, ...
  • In Las Vegas, Nevada

Archer1234 (talk) 04:29, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A direct interview with Carpenter would break the "tie"... FWIW, I'm skeptical that she was born in Mexico – that would be unusual enough that it would likely have garnered additional coverage. --IJBall (contribstalk) 04:59, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
FTR, I now don't trust this Buffy fanbook source, and think it's junk (I think it's just jumbled up the basic facts and confused them, like her family moving to Rosarito when she was a teenager, versus her being born there...) I wouldn't trust anything in it. So, I'm now more convinced that Las Vegas is the correct location of birth. --IJBall (contribstalk) 23:06, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

High school attendance

[edit]

There is no apparent conflict that Carpenter went to Bishop Gorman High School[1] when she lived in Las Vegas and later to the School for the Performing Arts in Chula Vista.[2][3]

However, the article says she also went to Bonita Vista High School, but the only source cited to support that claim (Stafford) actually says she went to Bonita High School, not Bonita Vista High School:

Her parents split in 1983, though they later reconciled, only to divorce in 1996. During that period, Charisma attended Bonita High School, before heading to the School of Performing Arts in Chula Vista, California.
— [2]

Bonita High School is in Los Angeles County, which seems unlikely for Carpenter to have attended if she lived in Mexico or even San Diego. Maybe Stafford got it wrong and mistakenly left out "Vista" in the name of the school. But we currently have no other sources to verify one way or the other.

Complicating the issue is that the timeline after her parents split in 1983 is unclear. One source (MSN) says she moved to Mexico in 1985. Where was she in 1984? The article implies the Carpenter's family moved to San Diego during the time she went to high school, but none of the sources support that her family moved to San Diego. MSN saying that at 15-years-old she commuted one-hour each day (presumably from Mexico) to attend the School of the Performing Arts seems to indicate she was not living in San Diego at that time. MSN goes on further to imply that Carpenter moved to San Diego after her graduation.

Archer1234 (talk) 05:08, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

She's in the Bonita Vista Highschool yearbooks for 1986 and 1987. Checkable on Ancestry.com (1986 / 1987) for whoever has a subscription there. Analog Kid (talk) 04:28, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Although the sources are behind a paywall, that doesn't make them non-reliable sources, and verifies that Carpenter attended Bonita Vista High School. I will remove the dispute tag.--RightCowLeftCoast (Moo) 21:49, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In addition see this biography on this site, as well as this blurb.--RightCowLeftCoast (Moo) 21:57, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Done – I've removed the dispute tag, and updated the sourcing to the Latina magazine source you cite... I don't trust the Buffy fanbook that was being used as a source before, and have removed it. --IJBall (contribstalk) 23:03, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Carpenter playing Jasmine in Angel season 4

[edit]

A quick Googling reveals that "The Beast" possessed Cordelia for a while, during which time Carpenter was effectively playing the role of Jasmine (The Beast). This situation is not unlike the Buffy/Faith body swap of 16th episode of season 4, Who Are You in which Faith is credited as being played by Gellar, and Buffy by Dushku. I personally have yet to watch all of Angel, so am not certain enough of the details to put the pieces together, but it seems less straightforward than this edit and summary suggest. Fred Gandt · talk · contribs 23:44, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure, I remember her being in bed in a scene. I think possessed by a demon, but her main character is Cordelia, so I might just leave it at that. Govvy (talk) 10:48, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
