- Comments
- Lede should be expanded
- "He is recognized as a national hero, and a unique medal and award was named in his honour." this is very vague: Why is he a 'national hero'? What is the award, the metal? Who recognizes him?
- recommend removing the wikisource link about his father and replacing with a red-link, I don't think we usually link cross-project like that
- 'early life' is really about his family.
- link First Lord of the Admiralty
- It's unclear whether he passed his officer's exam in November 1842 or earlier
- "for nine months" when?
- "Stanhope served on HMS Warspite," when? How long?
- "as he was ready to risk his life to help others." this is kind of vague, could you put it into a more encyclopedic voice?
- what makes genealogy.links.org/links-cgi/readged?/home/ben/camilla-genealogy/current+c-stanhope2045+2-2-0-1-0 (ref #1) a reliable source?
- what makes www.pdavis.nl/ShowBiog.php?id=1111 (ref # 5) a reliable source?
- Doug, I'm struggling to see what makes Stanhope notable outside of the award named after him. He certainly was a hero, and there's stuff to be said about his life, but I don't see any reason this article couldn't be merged into Stanhope Medal with little loss of sourced content. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the matter. Eddie891 Talk Work 00:56, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Eddie891: Yes, I do believe the Stanhope article could be merged into Stanhope Medal to make just one larger article. I would be glad to do that and I don't see it being much of a problem, since I am familiar with both articles that I created. What is the next step then we should do here?--Doug Coldwell (talk) 09:45, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
- Doug Coldwell: if it’s OK with you, I will procedurally close this review as unsuccessful to allow you to conduct the merge. Once it’s done I’d be happy to review the resulting article if you so desire. Best wishes, Eddie891 Talk Work 10:26, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Eddie891: Sounds like a plan to me. Thanks. --Doug Coldwell (talk) 10:39, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
