Clarity

[edit]

When a notice or token issued electronically that called e-challan. It is mainly using in traffic violation as vehicle driver ran off when he violate any traffic rules or there is no traffic police, in that condition there through different mediums traffic police record their violation with pics of vehicle/registration plate and after that electronically they check that's vehicle owner, his address, mobile number and issue a e-challan. In the Uttar Pradesh first time it was introduced in Noida (Gautambuddh Nagar).

Definition

[edit]

Where is the definition of "challan"? It is not in English dictionaries therefore it is not an English word. If E-challan appears here then challan should also be explained and it should be explained that people who's native language is English is not likely to understand it. I had the same doubt too. But it seems Challan or Chalan has now very much become an Indian English word (possibly over the last 10-15 years).
