Spelling
All search results on Google use an acute accent [1], as does today's Guardian. ed g2s • talk 15:48, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- However, search results on Google in Catalan (as opposed to Spanish) use a grave accent [2]. Qwghlm 11:04, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
Requested move
Spanish spelling uses Fábregas, Catalan spelling uses Fàbregas. For NPOV reasons I suggest using an unaccented version for the article name. Qwghlm 11:04, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Support Qwghlm 11:04, 31 March 2006 (UTC)- Changed my mind; after the various shenanigans renaming this page and the discussion below, I'm going to abstain, as long as whatever spelling is adopted, it's kept stable. Qwghlm 22:57, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose : The name Fabregas without the accent would be false too. So, why not try to ask him directly which spelling he uses himself? I'm sure it must be possible. Note his first name has the catalan form. So I'd prefer Francesc Fàbregas, or else Franciso Fábregas. Švitrigaila 11:17, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- Comment. If the two languages use different spellings for the first name (not just different accents), then we have to choose between the two anyway. Removing the accent achieves nothing. However, the comments by Švitrigaila above suggests that this should be moved to the title with the grave accent, instead of acute, to be consistent. --Stemonitis 11:32, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- Comment. Agree with the two users above. The form used should be that which the player himself would use. If that's not ascertainable, then Švitrigaila's theory about the first and last names agreeing sounds plausible so Francesc Fàbregas would be the most logical. SteveRwanda 18:08, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- Or, indeed, Cesc Fàbregas if that's the day-to-day form used - much like the article is called Tony Blair instead of Anthony Blair. SteveRwanda 09:23, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Cesc Fàbregas
This now seems the most obvious move. Commonly used form (like Tony Blair rather than Anthony Blair, plus a surname spelt as it should be in the region the guy comes from. I tried to move it here this morning from the clearly unsuitable Francesc "Cesc" Fàbregas but it landed up as a weird halfway house. I don't quite understand why that happened, but it needs to be changed.

- Support. The current version is obviously bugged, and I favour the Catalan accent on the first "a" (as opposed to the Spanish/Castillan one that's reversed). → Тодор Божинов / Todor Bozhinov → 17:31, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

Spelling
The most common English spelling is Fabregas. The English alphabet has no accents, despite their occasional use on imported words. There is nothing wrong with transliterating/translating names, we do it with Greek, Russian, Arabic people etc. (e.g. Tour Eiffel is at Eiffel Tower). Wiki policy is to use the most common name for the title, not the most correct. Most of the British media uses "Fabregas" [3]. ed g2s • talk 13:32, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. What's with the notion that it is perfectly acceptable for Catalan and Spanish to have their own spellings, but English is somehow a second-class language which doesn't get the same respect? Gene Nygaard 02:23, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
English only "transliterates" names written in a non-Roman alphabet. Accents on foreign names are a different matter. A lot of people choose not to use them because they don't know them (or can't find them on the keyboard). They used to cause problems to typesetters (but with modern technology this is no longer an issue). Some people are sticklers for them. Instead of being dogmatic about it why not check out a few newspaper style guides to get an idea of the different approaches taken by different organisations? Most British newspapers use "Ségolène" not "Segolene".
- Oh yes: without wanting to be precious about it, the authentic Catalan spelling of Cesc's surname would be Fàbregues. It's already been Castilianised once... Rabascius (talk) 19:26, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

It was mentioned by Martin Tyler on May 17 on some tv show I'd rather forget. Is it possible to cite a match commentary comment?

However, this suggests that he was but now isn't a paid-up Nou Camper that it and this says that his family are season ticket holders, but doesn't mention that he is, which it probably would if it were true. I think it's enough to say that he and his family are keen Barça supporters.

Hype
Fàbregas is one of the best of Spain's next generation of footballers. He is a creative central midfielder that starts some of Arsenals great moves with his unbelievable range of passing and one of the premierships brightest up and coming talents that any club would love to have in there team. All these comments are subjective and unsourced so I have removed them. QuiteUnusual 18:46, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Barcelona Career
"Fàbregas started his career at FC Barcelona B" and his stats both Barca B and C are listed. Well he has not played for Barcelona B, and I am 90% sure he hasn't played for the C team either. For the 2002/03 season he started in Cadete A. Small but I thought worth pointing out :) Fran
- If you're sure what you're saying feel free to correct the relevant parts. I have not found much information on his Barca career. Chensiyuan 12:54, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- In Europe, the letters refer to an age group. In case you are unaware. He probably has played for "B" which are players under 16. Renny11
Don't write 'Barca' it's 'Barça', with a 'ç', similar to the french. It changes completely the meaning, as 'barca' in spanish means 'boat' LOL —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.209.64.135 (talk) 23:27, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Rewrite and push for GA
Okay I'd be doing (and have done) some serious reworking on this article so all suggestions and additions will be welcome. While I like the player there's really too much one-sidedness in the article, to begin with. The lead also needs to be expanded, but subject to major reorganisation of the body first. More information on his early life and family life will also be relevant and helpful Chensiyuan 15:58, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- I've reorganised and added/trimmed content in the "Club career" section. Chensiyuan 12:51, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- I've further touched up the whole article. Now what's really missing is criticisms of his play. He was pretty woeful in front of goal in the 2006-07 season for e.g. There's also probably issues about him being lightweight. And certainly, any information on his early life would be worth including. Chensiyuan 15:23, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- I've added some stuff regarding the criticisms; now we could really do with information on his early life/family life/personal life etc. As well as more images. Chensiyuan 16:14, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- I have searched high and low for credible sources that talk about his life outside football, but it's been quite fruitless. However I don't think that should preclude this article from being nominated for GA, so I've gone ahead and nominated it. Chensiyuan 13:57, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

- The intro has a bit too much info, I think. Some of the detail could be stripped out and moved into the main part of the article. As I see it, the intro should be an abstract, telling you only the important general details. MSJapan 17:45, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- I try to model it with some of the GAs and FAs on sports personalities. Also, the basic guideline for the lead is a summary of all pertinent information in the article. Which aspect of the lead do you have in mind, which you find removable? Chensiyuan 18:47, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, since it says he plays for Arsenal "Fàbregas started his career as a trainee with FC Barcelona but before he even played a game for the first team he was signed by Arsenal in mid-2003. He did not feature much in his first season for the Gunners, but following injuries to key midfielders in the 2004-05 season, he became utilised more often and slowly established himself as Arsenal's starting central midfielder. Having made the first team at a young age, Fàbregas went on to break several of the club's records as he began to earn a reputation of a technically gifted player and excellent passer of the ball." is mostly redundant - how he got there or what he did or didn't do is material for the main article.

- Similarly. "On the international scene, he saw success with the under-17 national team as they came in second in the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Championship and Fàbregas was named top scorer and player of the tournament. He was called up to play for the senior team in the 2006 World Cup and is now a regular with the national side. As one of the top young talents in the game, Fàbregas' impressive performances for club and country attracted much attention from other clubs, but he signed a new contract in 2006, keeping him with Arsenal until 2014." could do without the awards and the "top yound talens in the game" bit. I think a single intro paragraph would be perfectly adequate as a summation. MSJapan 20:37, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Birthplace
i don't know if there is a discrepancy, but different sources have cited seemingly different places as his birthplace. the two principal sides at odds on this issue are arsenal.com/soccernet.com on one side, and his "unofficial" fansites on the other. any explanation would be helpful. Chensiyuan 08:58, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
- it seems that Zigurat, who hails from the Catalan Countries, says that Vilessoc does not exist. he should know what he's saying, so i'd just leave it at that, despite what soccernet and arsenal.com says. Chensiyuan 06:29, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sure he knows his stuff, but, likewise, I'm sure it's not Wikipedia policy to take someone's word for something when it's referenced in more than one place as something else. - Dudesleeper · Talk 15:02, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- I won't disagree regarding WP policy. My fear is that even the official sites merely resuse a communal pool of information, a systemic error as it were. This may be corroborated by the fact that when I perform net searches on "Vilessoc de Mar", almost all the hits in the first few pages point to Fabregas pages, rather than a page relating to the place itself. Chensiyuan 15:12, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- I think "Vilessoc de mar" is wrong spelling for "Vilassar de Mar" (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Vilassar_de_Mar), the place where I live. I heard that Cesc was born here, but I'm not sure which of the two birthplaces is correct Lluisteixido (talk) 11:40, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

GA review
Very nice, just a few problems that I would like you to address:
- The lead is too small, two good paragraphs should really be considered for an article this size
- First, thank you for reviewing the article. As you may notice from a discussion in the preceding paragraphs of this talkpage, there were concerns raised by two editors (not including me) that the lead (mostly expanded by me) was too long. The current version is probably 65-70% of the original, but I thought it was still a reasonable summary of the article. It would be helpful if you can point out some instances of material that can be included in the lead, so I can get a sense of what you're looking for. Chensiyuan 10:36, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- Okay I've expanded the lead a little, talking about his role as playmaker of the team, and his international career, and his long-term committment to Arsenal. Chensiyuan 10:49, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- That's more like it! --Phill talk Edits Review this GA review! 13:06, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- An honours section would be good as well, see Dean Ashton and Steven Gerrard as good examples
- Expanding on the honours section, for reoccuring honours you could include succession boxes at the footer of the article
- Done - I've done the section, but I don't think any succession boxes apply here do they? Chensiyuan 12:51, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- majority of the article refers to Fabregas by his second name and "him" or "he" - The article should really try and refer to him by other means, such as "The Spaniard", "The Spanish midfielder", "The Midfielder" to name a few
- Done I have now varied the word choice throughout the article. Chensiyuan 10:53, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- No persondata in the article, see Template:Persondata for details
- Several instances of POV within the article:
- "...he is today regarded as one of Spain's best next-generation midfielders" - by whom is he regarded?
- Rephrased. Chensiyuan 21:04, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- "...was particularly outstanding in the Champions League against Real Madrid and Juventus" - once again, by whom?
- Rephrased. Chensiyuan 21:04, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- I thought there were already references for this? Or do you think they do not suffice/not appropriate -- or it an issue of phraseology? Or do you mean attribution in the text? Chensiyuan 11:18, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- Personally, I don't like having such wording in a biography because it may lead to critism of Wikipedia - one way that 4u1e and myself found around this problem - So, instead of saying "was particularly outstanding in the Champions League against Real Madrid and Juventus", you could say "produced a performances against Juventus and Real Madrid that were described by Bloomberg's Sam Sheringham and The Times' Hugh McIlvanney as "outstanding". That way, any critism would be "diverted" from Wikipedia to those two gentlemen. --Phill talk Edits 12:20, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

A word about the links in the references section
For reasons unknown to me, some of the soccernet links appear dead when you first click on them. Hitting the back button and re-clicking it (or sometimes, the refresh button) usually does the trick. Just in case someone thinks the links are dead. Chensiyuan 12:58, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Fabregas's height
I think his height should be revised. We all know that he is not 5'11". This would make him taller than Wayne Rooney who's only 5'10". For people who constantly watch football, it is clear to all of us that Rooney is a lot taller than Fabregas. Cesc is aroung 5'7" or 5'8". So please, whoever wrote that he's 5'11 should change this.Shady19 22:51, 1 November 2007 (UTC)Shady19
- Source it, not claim it. Right now, the article uses the soccernet source which states he is 5'9". WP is about verifiability, not truth or personal estimates. Chensiyuan 23:31, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Well...if you're saying that the article is using ESPN'S soccernet net source for his height, why does it say 5'11" on the article? Apparently it was not rectified. Fabregas is in fact 5'9". So why can't it be changed in the article? We want relevant articles here in Wikipedia. Not some ridiculous and wrong information.Shady19 05:30, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Where does it say 11? Read. Chensiyuan 06:58, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
I'm tired of people switching Fabregas's height back to 5'11". He is not 5'11". The person who's doing that must not be a soccer fan because a real soccer fan knows that Fabregas is a little man. For God's sake, this should be rectified. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shady19 (talk • contribs) 01:37, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Cesc Controversy
Proposal for the inclusion of a new section, following the match between Arsenal and Manchester United on 3 Nov 2007, many hundreds of football discussion boards have been filled with unfounded allegations of this particular incident. Whilst I agree that allowing a section like this may cause problems in the future. It is surely within Wikipedia's remit to inform rather than remain silent on such topics. (New User currently unregistered) 6/11/07
- Thanks for posting your thoughts. To me, it really depends on the magnitude (and thus notability) of the controversy. If we've got a number of reliable sources that reported this controversy, then we have something worth looking. The next step will be to determine if it's worth including in the article, because we are dealing with an encyclopedia after all. Chensiyuan 14:13, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- There will also be issues of structure: where do we put in controversies such as this? Do we need to create a new section just for controversial incidents? More importantly, such a section should not be created for the sake of providing a balanced point of view. At the end of the day, it must be a noteworthy and relevant inclusion in what is essentially a biography of what the person was about. Chensiyuan 14:50, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Alleged Controversy
In October 2006, a low quality video available on youtube became widely circulated, which appeared to show that Fabregas had spat in the face of Michael Ballack in the Champions League match between Arsenal and Bayern Munich on the 9 March 2005.[4] Despite press reports in the days following the alleged incident confirming that he was simply shouting at Ballack and there was no suggestion of him having deliberately spat, the allegation continues to persist.
"The Germans were winding the clock, Ballack cleverly going to ground under a challenge from Fabregas, who was cautioned for shouting an insult at the prostrate midfielder. Arsenal, though, were the real fallen giants last night." -- Henry Winter, The Telegraph[1]
I read something on the internet where a director said to an english newspaper that Fabregas did not spit at Ballack, otherwise he would have known of it. Nothing of this sort had been mentioned, so this "evidence" on youtube is just silly, not even the video gives away ANY evidence that he spat at Ballack. Can't give a reference right now, I don't bother as this is just stupid. user:Aediassen —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aediasse (talk • contribs) 17:05, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

What is it? There is a controversy here. Somebody just updated to 1.80m quoting TimesOnline
Other links show it as:

Personal life
Hi, due to the youth of this sports person, it is acceptable for their personal life section to only cover the period before they began their career. However, as they grow older it becomes more important for information on their life outside sport to appear in the article. Please ensure that as the person develops their article does too. For an example of how such a section might look, see Brian Urlacher and for pointers on how to expand and improve such a section, see this guide. Thanks--Jackyd101 (talk) 10:11, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

This is not a Spanish name
The article begins with the comment: This is a Spanish name. False. The name is completely Catalan, both the name Francesc (in Spanish it'd be Francisco) and the two surnames. Even the i joining both surnames is a Catalan convention. And Cesc is the Catalan short form for Francesc. --Purplefire (talk) 17:28, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
European matches
Somebody keeps changing fabregas's european match count to 3 when he's played 4 i.e. Celtic away,Liege away,Alkmaar away and Olympiakos home. Can somebody keep a check on this as i can't modify back to its true state again and again.
--Cesc89 (talk) 15:04, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
- We adhere to the reference used (if you want, we can point you the relevant Wikipedia policies). Here, it's soccernet. And soccernet does not include qualifying matches. As is the case too, if you notice, for the other seasons' stats. Please also avoid vandalising the page when you edit. Chensiyuan (talk) 16:00, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
The official arsenal website shows that fabregas has played in 5 matches which does include the qualifier.http://www.arsenal.com/the-match/statistics.The official website is also a better source and other season's have qualifiers listed because only that explains 2 goals listed under europe in 06-07 and 6 of which 2 as i said in the other post from 07-08 are in qualifiers. If those qualifiers are included then so should this otherwise it gives a flawed representation by which qualifiers are included in 1 year and are not in another year. The only alternative would be to remove those european qualifier goals to make it totally free from qualifiers in all seasons listed under stats on wikipedia. --Cesc89 (talk) 21:48, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- Arsenal's website isn't necessarily the best source; the UEFA site suggests he has only played 4 games thus far. UEFA should be authoritative in this respect... Chensiyuan (talk) 06:25, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
The uefa website is showing stats for the champions league proper. The question is that wether the qualifier is a competitive match or not which it is.Also other season's stats have qualifiers included so it would be considered uniform to have for this season as well.
--Cesc89 (talk) 06:42, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
- We need to find a source that consolidates, accurately (ie, per EPL website and UEFA website), all the goals and assists. Any suggestions? Chensiyuan (talk) 17:32, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
I have not found one yet but for the sake of uniformity i have checked the statistics for other arsenal players under wikipedia regarding european champions league qualifiers or playoffs as they are called now and found that players like andrei arshavin, emmanuel eboue and william gallas (who all scored in the playoffs or qualifiers which surround the dispute of the 13th assist which by the way was for the goal for william gallas when he scored of a fabregas free-kick) have those goals and the match included & listed.--Cesc89 (talk) 13:24, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
European goals and premier league assists
I was told that european qualifiers are not included in the statistics. Then why are goals from european qualifiers added namely the 2 listed in 06-07 came against dinamo zagreb in european champions league qualifiers and a further 2 listed in 07-8 against sparta prague(not to be confused with slavia prague against whom he scored in the champions league proper) i believe. Also the 07-08 stats show that cesc has 20 assists while he has 19 in fact and 08-09 show 8 assists while he had 10.You can check on the official premier league website through this link: http://www.premierleague.com/page/Statistics/0,,12306,00.html. --Cesc89 (talk) 16:00, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
- As long as the stats conform to the reference used, there's no issue. So you can supersede the current ref with this one, provided it is formatted correctly (look at other refs). Btw, I'm not certain what the link you've provided is intended to illustrate -- try clicking on it. Chensiyuan (talk) 20:32, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
With regards to my link,How can i explain this?I think the url will not change even if you try to open something else and when you generally open the link it shows the latest stats of the current season.Under the big blue stats bar is a slot where you can choose the season for which you want stats which shows 09/010 if you open the link.Choose whatever season you want to.Under that season slot is a slot saying top scorers.Click on that and you can choose assists for this matter.Hence you will get the official premier league statistics for every season since it was started in 1992.All of cesc's premier league stats are fine barring the ones that i mentioned. Please also help regarding the other matter which is european goal tally.

09/10 Season
The section on 09/10 ("In the opening league game of 2009–10 season, Fàbregas scored a brace and managed two assists in Arsenal's 6–1 away win against Everton.[49] Arsenal went on to secure qualification for the Champions League by beating Celtic over two legs, but their early momentum to the season was disrupted by consecutive league game losses to Manchester United and Manchester City. The team bounced back strongly after this setback, and with Fàbregas being prolific in scoring (9 goals in all competitions) and setting up his teammates (12 assists), it went unbeaten in the next 13 games.") is not detailed enough and, in places, is grammatically poor. The end is particularly bad and should be rewritten by someone with English as their mothertongue. I would suggest something like
"Fabregas began his first full season as captain in impressive form scoring a brace while providing two assists against Everton in the opening match of the season. Arsenal and Cesc continued their good form to qualify for the Champions League by beating Celtic. However, consecutive losses to Manchester United and Manchester City disrupted Arsenal's momentum. The team bounced back and Fabregas led by example scoring against Wigan and Blackburn and providing four assists in the latter game. His goalscoring form continued and was capped by a brace against AZ Alkmaar. Arsenal's recovery was dented by two more consecutive losses to Sunderland and Chelsea, but again Fabregas rallied his troops and they revived their title ambitions with a 2-1 win at Anfield against Liverpool. Fabregas then scored again against Burnley before coming off injured. On his return against Aston Villa he scored a rare direct free kick and a neat finish in a 27 minute cameo from the bench before returning to the sidelines with a recurrence of his injury." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.152.200.220 (talk) 03:55, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
More in-depth international statistics
A lot of other player pages (such as Thierry Henry) have international stats listed by the season, and include assists as well as goals. Should the same be done for Fabregas? All this info is available from soccernet.
The Arsenal 09/10 stats need updating by the way to include the 2 goals vs Villa and the goal vs Burnley. Can I just ask how I would get the necessary privileges to be able to edit the article myself? Thanks Renoog (talk) 12:03, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Assist Season by season tables
By Gunner22
Cesc assists are wrong people! The data from Premier League.com includes indirect assists such as penalties created. Cesc has : 13 in the Premier League, 2 In the Champions league, 1 in the FA cup.
- The 3 extra assists that have been added are the own goal vs Wolves which resulted from Cesc's corner, Arshavin's goal vs Liverpool which resulted from Fabregas' cross (although it took a very slight touch off Johnson), and Gallas' goal vs Celtic in the Champions League qualifying rounds Renoog (talk) 12:14, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
By Gunner22: Ok thanks for clearing that up. The stats on premierleague.com include indirect assist such as penalties created. But obviously the 3 added assists make sense now.
=========================
Tables for assists like the international goals list.Could be season by season starting with creating one for the current season. It could include factors such as goalscorer, opposition, venue, score and competition on ascending date order basis.I have the data ready and can provide it but someone will have to make the table. If found popular eventually previous season assists can be done.Annual assist data on overall basis including the following all of which are competitive:Premier league,Champions league,Carling Cup,Fa cup and qualifiers for either domestic cup or champions league.

Cesc Goals and assists
Again this is becoming a problem.Someone is constantly editing Fabregas's English Premier League assists to 13.This is after both the offical premier league websites list and official arsenal website both list it as 15.Also the total of cesc's goal is 48 not 46.You can check that by adding goal tallys of all seasons.Again both are becoming a major inconvenience to edit back round the clock because some member takes it upon himself to post incorrect data. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cesc89 (talk • contribs) 05:34, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Citing sources
Citations in Wikipedia articles should use a consistent style. Any of the following styles are acceptable so long as each article is internally consistent. You should follow the style already established in an article, if it has one; where there is disagreement, the style used by the first editor to use one should be respected.
Similarly, there are several methods of internal formatting or markup that can be used to create a given displayed citation. The best practice is for a given article to be consistent in internal markup or formatting. It is better to follow the patterns in place if an article has a stable citation structure. Changing existing citations from one format to another should generally be done only with local consensus, and should never be the subject of an edit war. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chensiyuan (talk • contribs) 14:12, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- Fair enough, but nonetheless, I would press for the consisent style to be formatted refs rather than unformatted refs. Also, I'm curious as to why you insist on changing the accessdates; the BBC article was accessed on 3 June rather than 15 June and the Daily Mail article was accessed on 21 June rather than 22 June? Further, you are being inconsistent with the publisher titles; ie, using news.bbec.co.uk and dailymail.co.uk. And of course news.bbec.co.uk is a misspelling anyway. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 13:24, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

- I think a gradual move to formatted refs is preferable, as it is easier to copy for newcomers, you can use reflinks, and of course, it is easier to fill in blanks on existing refs. I don't imagine the GA status being effected by some refs being formatted and others not, as it'll look the same. Sandman888 (talk) 16:16, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Arsenal youth career?
As far as i know, and the article doesn't make it clear, he signed with Arsenal in summer 2003 and made his debut on October, but did he played with any youth teams? There is nothing about the pizzagate incident on here, basically after they lost 2-0 to Man Utd in 2004 (which ended their record unbeaten run) the Arsenal players felt Rooney dived to win a penalty and there was a huge row after the match which ended with Fabregas allegedly throwing a pizza at Sir Alex Ferguson. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.158.133.227 (talk) 13:00, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Assists
I would like to say that some person is constantly altering fabregas's statistics in terms of assists. He has 10 for the 'English Premier League' in 2010-2011 and not 9 as somebody keeps altering it to. This is mentioned here in the offical site of the premier league.
http://www.premierleague.com/page/Statistics/0,,12306,00.html
(In the players tab where top scorers is written click on it and it will reveal a number of options you can choose. Choose Assists)
I would like to to again re-iterate that these are the official statistics for the premier league. Soccernet.com is not a relaible source as it sometimes fails to update or may have a different interpretation of what an assist (Example FA Cup game against stoke in 2010 Fabregas provides an assist for Denilson from a free-kick and soccernet fails to update this)
I have been constantly updating the statistics part of the page for a 2 seasons at least and constantly watch every game and look to provide as many reputed sources as i can. Please do not alter these back.

In Spain he is commonly referred to as "el de Arenys" (the man from Arenys). The major of Arenys has been quoted in the press voicing his opinions about his possible move to FC Barcelona, also citing Arenys as Fàbregas birthplace. Added a new assist for Cesc Fabregas for the 3rd goal for Lionel Messi against Osasuna in the Copa Del Ray on the 4th of January 2011 . I quote a description of the goal from the blog www.barcablaugranes.com
"But he couldn’t be stopped for long. Taking a free-kick from 20 yards out, his effort was blocked and Carles Puyol forced a fine reaction save for the corner kick. The corner looked to have been cleared, but Barcelona kept possession on the side of the area, and eventually the ball found its way to Fabregas. Cesc weighted a delightful ball up at the backpost, and despite his dwarfish stature it was Lionel Messi who climbed highest to power home a header. Barcelona were 3-0 up and coasting. "

Edit request -- delete Spanish pronunciation
Currently there are two pronunciation guides using the international phonetic alphabet, one in Catalan and the other in Spanish. This makes absolutely no sense because Francesc is a Catalan name that does not exist in Spanish (the equivalent is Francisco), and therefore the only correct pronunciation is the Catalan one. The Spanish pronunciation should be deleted. Céline Dion is very popular in the English-speaking world, but her name is French and only the correct French pronunciation is provided on her Wikipedia article. Cesc Fàbregas may have a lot of Spanish-speaking fans, but the only correct pronunciation of his name is the Catalan one. Kallionae (talk) 19:33, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

2. Supercopa de España and FA Community Shield are not considered as season-long national cups, but they are both included in the 'Cup' column.
3. FIFA Club World Cup is not a UEFA competition, but it is included in 'Europe'.
4. Per Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Players, assists should be removed from the table.
None of these problems appears in the new standard version.

- Unfortunately, it seems that I am the only one who is trying to fix these problems and no one else seems to care about, for instance, FIFA Club World Cup being a European competition.--Miunouta (talk) 16:27, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
- Simply change to 'Continental' rather than 'Europe'. GiantSnowman 16:37, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
- Please refer to Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football/Players#Stats_table_template_needs_to_be_updated for information on where each competition should be included.--Miunouta (talk) 01:12, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Please see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football/Players#Fabregas_new_stats_table for the new version. As I do not want to get involved in an edit war, I will leave this to other editors.--Miunouta (talk) 01:12, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
Youth teams
As I understand it, Cesc never played for FC Barcelona C or FC Barcelona B - I am nearly 100% sure about the latter because he doesn't appear on any of the Barca B rosters (if he had, it would have been an exceptional piece of news, considering that he was only 16, like Bojan Krkic today). Even appearing for Barcelona C would have been a major accomplishment, considering that the youngest players in this season's Barcelona C squad are 19/20[6] (i.e. the same age as Cesc now). To the best of my knowledge, he only made it as far as cadete A ([7]) before being signed by Arsenal - which would seem correct based on his age (that is the level for 15/16 year old youngsters at Barcelona).
- Any sources would be great. (Now timestamp so this can be archieved). QED237 (talk) 11:34, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

FC Barcelona FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with Arsenal over the transfer of Cesc Fabregas to the Catalan club on August 14 of 2011. The Catalan Club has been trying to steal Cesc from Arsenal for four years, but Arsenal were trying there best to keep the player until the end of his contract with the club
- Not done: technically not a Barca player
- We do not change club until everything is well sourced. QED237 (talk) 11:34, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
Club for Fabregas
Hi,
Please note that we do not change club if it is not officially sourced. Wikipedia is not based on rumours. Thank you. QED237 (talk) 11:36, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

Not done Can't do that from a purely biological stand point not to mention I don't know where you are or where the substance is so it's also spatially impossible. What's also impossible is for Fàbregas to be on Chelsea's roster prior to 1 July Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:20, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

Edit request
I reckon the insertion of an article from 2011 about Fabregas saying that he'd never play for another English club is WP:OR or WP:SYNTH, as I personally haven't seen this be brought up by any mainstream media (or possibly Arsenal staff) in the context of his recent transfer. I reckon delete it until we have a reliable source so that we can say "Arsenal fans/management expressed their anger at Fabregas' transfer, due to a 2011 interview in which he said that he would never play for another English team". Full name
Fàbregas' full name is actually Francesc Fàbregas i Soler. It follows Catalan naming conventions, where Fàbregas is the paternal name and i Soler is the maternal name. Please fix this oversight. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wizmeister777 (talk • contribs) 14:24, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
