The Mandacaru, despite originating from the northeastern part of the country, can be found in much of the Brazil, due to its hardness, tolerating the hot and humid climate of the North, and hot and dry of central Brazil quite well, surviving the cooler winter months with ease. It's carefree characteristics, not requiring much attention after planted, made it popular with garden designers, often combined with other carefree and hardy plants, and pebbles or stones instead of grass.
