"A gathering in the head"
[edit]I was doing family genealogy research when I came across a mention of a family member in the October 19, 1918 Logansport, Indiana Pharos-Tribune page 6 (You can read it on Newspapers.com) that said:
Mrs Willard Ault has been with her daughter Mrs Harry Frushour for the past week. Mrs. Frushour has been suffering from a gathering in her head.
I puzzled over the expression and set about trying to find out what it meant. After some digging, I found the mention in the referenced book. I've across some of the darnedest medical expressions that have fallen out of vogue in my research. Mrs. Frushour suvived and lived to the age of 79, by the way. Died in 1971.--Varkman (talk) 09:02, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
