[edit]- This article is pretty boring...71.66.230.44 (talk) 07:08, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
- I found something quite interesting in it; That Saint Boniface claims Ceolred spoke with demons and cursed the clergy of God at the end of his reign before death, could it be that he re-took his ancestors faith much like King Redbad of the Frisians? Woden was often times described as a demon and so were all the Anglo-Saxon divinities. This facet interests me much. 4.255.55.147 (talk) 22:16, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
The Britannia article (18) says that he married W. of Mercia whom they distinguish from W. of Chester (which is what his wife is linked to at the moment). I'm not sure if there is a page for the Mercia woman, but perhaps some triple-checking is in order. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.126.51.194 (talk) 07:07, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, another anon to agree with the one above--the article here says he was married to http://www.britannia.com/bios/saints/werburgamercia.html. That's W. of Mercia. The Wiki article you link to is for another Werburga who died in 699. (And was this guy's aunt? or something, but she was disinterred by the king before Ceolred.) I'm going to remove the Wikilink, okay? I can't find an article on *this* Saint Werburga. Please revert if I'm wrong!71.208.182.251 (talk) 18:41, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

Ancestry and Reign
[edit]This section contains this line:-
"Ceolred was Æthelred's son, but his mother was not Osthryth, Æthelred's only recorded wife"
which contradicts:-
"Osthryth was probably the mother of Æthelred's son, Ceolred, king of Mercia from 709 to 716"
in the Wiki page on Osthryth:-
[[1]]
The fact is that Ceolred's mother is unknown and both entries should reflect this, perhaps on this page to:-
"Ceolred was King Æthelred's son, but his mother may not have been not Osthryth, Æthelred's only recorded wife"
