Composition
[edit]What is it made of? At one point we are told cement and glass fibre, at another cement and wood flakes. Biscuittin (talk) 23:27, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- There seem to be 3 different fibre ingredients: glass fibre, cellulose fibre and wood flakes. Are they all called Cement board and how can one distinguish between them? Biscuittin (talk) 10:22, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
The term "waterproof" does not apply to cement boards. All portland cement or fiber cement based boards are water resistant only. The term waterproof is reserved for a building material that will offer a. no absorption of water, b. no capillarity of water, c. no wicking of water towards other members of a structure (where damage could occur). The term water resistance is used when materials will not deteriorate in water immersion but they are still not necessarily waterproof. Duraskirt
[edit]I came across a product called [1] that should also be considered under the title cement board. Duraskirt comes in sheets for use as skirting for mobile homes and is made for exterior use subject to freeze thaw and severe weather conditions. You should take a look. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.157.79.55 (talk) 00:49, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
Add section describing how and when it was developed
[edit]I think we need a section talking about what was used before cement board was developed and related topics. Will (Talk - contribs) 05:43, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
