Would it be appropriate to add in this a discussion of Cell Broadcast adaptation in America, and other countries? For full disclosure purposes I work for the first company in america to add cell broadcast, and start using it for weather, and emergency updates. I have a conflict of interest in adding this information to the page, but feel that it would be a good add. If some one else would like to add this information can be found at these links: http://cellcastcorp.com/Technology/tabid/58/Default.aspx http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0EIN/is_2006_August_14/ai_n16620696 http://wistechnology.com/article.php?id=3967

Demonstrated in Paris for the first time, in 1997 ?

[edit]

Not sure about this. I had cell broadcast on my UK Vodafone Motorola in 1994 and it was used to display area codes for their MetroDigital service at that time using page 50, which is still in use by them today. Jckcip (talk) 00:32, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Took a bit of hunting, but here's a reference to a 1994 Usenet FAQ on Vodafone Cell Broadcast: http://groups.google.co.uk/group/uk.telecom/browse_thread/thread/3c68817060a728cd/a3a29dd7b32d14df?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=MetroDigital+%22cell+broadcast%22#a3a29dd7b32d14df Jckcip (talk) 01:04, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

CBC Technology Update

[edit]

CBC ( Cell Broadcast Center ) is the equipment that goes into mobile carrier in order to provide cell broadcast technology to end consumers. Along with this equipment, the Cell broadcast channel should be enabled and the feature should be supported in the BSC and BTS of the network operator. This should be a standard feature that the mobile carriers get from their network equipment manufacturers like Ericsson, Motorola, Huwawei, Nokia-Siemens, Alcatel-Lucent etc.

CBC equipment is provided by vendors like one2many, Celltick, TeleDNA (www.teledna.com) and Alcatel-Lucent which have live deployments in multi-vendor complex networks. This equipment needs to talk to multiple NEPs RNCs, BSCs and BTS in a variety of ways although there are standards around it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.166.2.115 (talk) 22:25, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
