Why episodes are called "seasons"?

Seasons are spring, summer, autumn and winter. Sometimes seasons might mean a bigger time period in case of yearly series. But seasons do not mean periods that are shorter than three months. DenisRS (talk) 10:16, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
