Differences between the Canadian and American versions of the scandal
[edit]The article should maybe consider writing about how the abuse scandal was met with different types of reactions in the United States and Canada. The Canadian version of the events occured much earlier, during the 1990s in Newfoundland, and as such most of the Canadian public had already become familiar with allegations of abuse by clergy by the time they were widely publicized by media in the United States. Of course, one could argue that both scandals are not entirely healed and that significant wounds remain anyway, but there is definitely a different type of media exposure to the events, given that the earliest instances of abuse were exposed by Radio-Canada in the 1960s during the Duplessis Orphans affair. Alberta - estate of Whyte
[edit]the article says that Whyte filed a lawsuit after he was dead, and his estate is one of the defendants? --142.163.195.64 (talk) 16:25, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
Newfoundland Wayne Dohey
[edit]I do not believe either Fr Dohey or the Archdiocese "acknowledged" sexual relations. Should be sourced or removed. The article does not need to be a BLP to be governed by the rules of a BLP when making statements about a LP. --142.163.195.62 (talk) 14:44, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
Ontario
[edit]The content in this article is self-explanatory, not sure if it should be included in the context of it not being proven in a court of law? I'll leave it for others who know policy better to decide. Henry Joseph Maloney CT55555 (talk) 19:00, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
