Nobel Peace Prize nomination
[edit]- Hamlin ... has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize is an honor, but it is not official or even prestigious. Any national legislator or about a third of the university professors in the world can make a nomination, and there have been as many as 140 some years. Nominators are requested to keep their nominations secret, so it's only those wishing publicity who make announcements, and more often it is impossible to verify. I see no reason to keep it. No offense to the subject, this is a general Nobel Peace Prize "nominees" issue. -Will Beback · † · 09:37, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- While this point about Nobel Peace Prizes may be true, Dr Hamlin's nomination is often used to introduce her and so forms a notable part of her biography. I have added a footnote giving an example of such a usage. Whiteghost.ink 01:41, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

- The page http://www.fistulafoundation.org/press/tools/hamlinbio.html is now an error 404 page. I searched the Fistula Foundation website, and found minimal mention of Dr. Catherine Hamlin. There are NO plagiarisms issues, not now (4 years after the first comment). I was sad that Dr. Hamlin wasn't mentioned more, as she is notable and founded the Hamlin Fistula Hospital.
- Regarding article content: There is some overstated language, praising Dr. Hamlin. I'm uncomfortable changing it, as I mostly agree with it, and thus biased in a positive way. Thank you Whiteghost for your efforts with this page. --FeralOink (talk) 13:36, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- Perhaps the archived version found here, this Hamlin Fistula USA and this Australian Fistula history webpage could be useful. ww2censor (talk) 14:21, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
