Confusing description

[edit]

I leave it to scholars to better describe the important early Marian paintings at this site; however, I have removed the utterly confusing phrase "a standing man with a tunic his left hand a book, in the right hand is a star over his head as a symbol of the messiah" from the reference to the early Madonna and child painting. Whatever he's holding or not in either of his hands or on his head, a quick web search tells me the male figure is generally thought to be the prophet Isaiah. 11 Arlington (talk) 07:31, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Location

[edit]

The catacombs of Priscilla are not located under the S.Martino ai Monti church; in fact, it is outside the Aurelian Wall on Via Salaria near Villa Ada. This is a factual error. Andreas84 (talk) 18:45, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to see someone else has noted that. But there is a link because bones were transfered to the church from the catacombs. I will try to edit.Roundtheworld (talk) 07:17, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I will be editing this page for my class. I will be going through and changing or deleting anything that is not sourced properly, adding photos, adding artworks/information, and reworking the lead. Please feel free to change anything you feel I have done incorrectly. Thank you! :: DragonflyReign (talk) 18:51, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DragonflyReign thank you for adding all of the scholarly references and additional information about the paintings and relics! Your edits provide important scholarly context for the catacombs Ctschroeder (talk) 01:13, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
