Realistic Model 12-1979 Cassette Deck (Under Dashboard)
[edit]I have the subject unit which recently failed mechanically. I found a spring and pressure plate that separated from a gear assembly. After trying to re-install, the unit is now engaged on both capstans and pinch rollers. I suspect that while re-assembling I may have missed a slide or am out of sync. on part of the mechanism. At this point, any help would be appreciated, including some way to purchase a similar unit. Thank You, Red —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.30.177.186 (talk) 10:17, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Incompatible with optical end of tape sensing.
[edit]I tried one of these in the factory radio in a Cadillac Cimarron. It used optical end of tape sensing to reverse direction. Without any way to block the sensors the deck would just rapidly change directions, thus I couldn't use one of these adapters. Probably could have figured out where to glue in a piece of plastic to block the sensor but it was easier to replace the radio with a CD player. Bizzybody (talk) 07:06, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
