Edit reversion / pushpin errors
[edit]Hi @Altenmann: - as you have not left an edit summary, I don't understand why you've reinserted the map showing the Republic of Kalmykia. The coordinates render the pushpin not to appear on the map correctly, thus creating an error, that populates here: Category:Location maps with marks outside map and outside parameter not set. The ideal situation would be to have a single map that combines Astrkahn, Kalmykia and Atyrau that shows the entire area covered by the depression. If you let me the proper boundaries I can create this. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 20:11, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- The convenience for developers should not override the convenience for viewers. Even as it is, the triple-map display is convenient to show the extent of this geographical feature as written in the article. However at the moment the issue is moot because the description is far form being complete. I will complete it shortly. - Altenmann >talk 21:50, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Altenmann (let me know if you do not want to be pinged). We're in heated agreement - the point of that category is to fix display errors - a primary concern for readers is if maps display incorrectly or render information incorrectly. The triple map display as it is at the moment is confusing because the locator shows that the Caspanian Depression does not even appear on the Kalmykia map. So we have text which says the Caspian Depression includes Kalmykia and a map which renders that it is not. I'm happy to create a map the covers the region - feel free to ping me when you have completed the description. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 01:08, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
Reference removed
[edit]I removed the ref toyolkki.ru website.[1] It appears it is a clikbait page which scraped many different texts about related subjects, possibly generated by something like ChatGPT. Since there is no real references for the info in the text, I am removing it as unreliable. But it can sit here in talk page as a source of keywords for searches. - Altenmann >talk 22:11, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
