The Pleasure Island Amusement Park operated from 1959-1962 in Carrara (I think). It had trains. There are photos. And here is a YouTube video.
Keith William's Ski Gardens operated in Carrara (I think). There are photos. The "main" show of (water) skiiers, moved to the spit to an amusement park that was the precursor for Sea World.
The original South Coast railway went through Carrara. See link for book.
The current Gold Coast railway goes through Carrara; there is a bridge constructed.
There was Carrara State School from atleast 1916 until 1929, then I think maybe two private schools, then now-Emmanuel College?
The Big Day Out festival was held in Carrara Stadiums in 2014 only. Before that it was at Parklands. After that it was cancelled. See here.
The Emerald Lakes website calls itself/Carrara the "geographical centre of the Gold Coast". I could calculated it but it'll need to be calculated in an external source to be stated on this article. Cannot find source. Maybe this could help.
The Gold Coast Library collects photographs (mostly historical). They are available here. It would be good to copy those without copyright over to Wikimedia Commons and contact authors for permission to copy others too.
