I know that some of this is not right but I don't remember the exact story. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mschilz23 (talkcontribs).

Please mark the questionable parts with a "cite needed" tag so that other editors can provide verification. Simply put the exact text of {{cn}} next to the parts you feel are in error. Kuru talk 16:28, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I strongly disagree with the suggestion that this article be deleted. It is an important part of school bus history in North America. If it needs improving, let's do that. Vaoverland 21:16, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fallen Flag

[edit]

What does this phrase "Fallen Flag" refer to? Without context it reads strange. --Bridgecross (talk) 19:30, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A "fallen flag" is a company that has either gone out of business, or has been absorbed by another company and no longer uses its original name. —BMRR (talk) 01:00, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I took out this specific subsection recently, as much of its text is beginning to be repeated elsewhere in the article and it could be put to better use expanding the Carpenter 2000 section than in a freestanding section that has no parallels in any other bus manufacturing articles and could potentially have NPOV questions from others. 08:49, 4 October 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by SteveCof00 (talkcontribs)

Logo?

[edit]

On the older Carpenter buses, there was a strange logo consisting of what looks like a pile of rocks sitting in a large capital C. Does anyone know for sure what this was supposed to be? —Preceding unsigned comment added by MotherFerginPrincess (talkcontribs) 19:26, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't recall ever seeing a logo like that. How old was the bus? The only Carpenter logos I am familiar with are the ones from the 1970s to the early 2000s, and none of those match the description you gave. —BMRR (talk) 00:46, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If the logo wasn't in good condition, it may have looked like that, but Carpenter used the "knight inside the C" logo up until about 1989. From 1989 to 1992, Carpenter actually used 2 logos on their buses (the word Carpenter, and an rarely-seen optional one with a lance over the word "Carpenter"). From 1992-1995, only the word Carpenter was used. During the Crown by Carpenter era, the wording was changed to Crown (the logo itself was inherited from Crown Coach, who had only recently introduced it when they went out of business). The logo on the Carpenter 2000 buses was a takeoff on the Spartan Motors logo (a black diamond with a red "C" instead of a red "S" in the middle). SteveCof00 (talk) 09:11, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"an rarely-seen optional one with a lance over the word 'Carpenter'." I've seen that logo on buses from the '87-'88 time period as well. Not that I'll be adding that info to the article, due to it being original research ;-) but just figured I'd mention it! —BMRR (talk) 03:09, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It might take some digging, but something might pop up that might be reference-worthy. School bus manufacturers didn't have any web presence until about 1996 or 1997 (AmTran never had a website until it changed its name in 2002). Even now, they don't go into detail about options like what manufacturer logo to use on the bus. If there's no luck adding 1000 words to the article, maybe there's a picture of it somewhere in obscurity in the Commons :-) SteveCof00 (talk) 10:18, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Let's see if we can make that link more usable:

That is the "knight inside the C" logo that SteveCof00 was referring to. —BMRR (talk) 23:19, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding the company logos; I hope more of these can be found for all bus manufacturers someday. SteveCof00 (talk) 10:35, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
