Carpal tunnel is a part of the wrist, whereas the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a medical condition relating to that part of the wrist. Matthew 1130 00:34, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
Agree, if it should be merged anywhere, it should be merged into the wrist, and I think it should be merged there. WLU 03:15, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I think that this can be merged with Wrist. If we do this, how about making Carpal tunnel redirect to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, or should Carpal tunnel be a disambiguation page? What do you think? Figma 19:06, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
I think that a disambiguation page would be better, considering the confusion of terms between Carpal tunnel and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. A disambiguation page might also identify other conditions which are frequently confused with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:
- Ulnar neuropathy.
- Repetive strain injury.
- Radial nerve entrapment.لللكككققققققق
- Tenosynovitis, also known as first dorsal compartment tendonitis.
Matthew 1130 12:14, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
My understanding is that disambiguation pages are only used to differentiate between things that have the same name (or at least very similar names). So, Carpal tunnel and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome could share such a page, but if we're looking to differentiate between different medical conditions with similar symptoms (and I'm not sure we should be), I think that would be best done on the Carpal tunnel syndrome page itself. Figma 13:38, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose I oppose the suggested merge. The carpal tunnel may be best known for being involved in carpal tunnel syndrome, but that's not the only time it exists. This article can explain the structure of that area in more depth than might be appropriate in the CTS article. --Icarus (Hi!) 03:23, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for chiming in, Icarus! We were discussing merging Carpal tunnel into the Wrist article above? Do you oppose that idea? And, do you have an opinion on whether Carpal tunnel should redirect to CTS, or if, instead, it would be better if CT and CTS shared a disambiguation page? Cheers, Figma 06:18, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose per Figma and Icarus. Merging with CTS would be wrong, and merging with wrist does not eliminate the problem of wrongful reference to CTS. Disambiguation sounds unhealthy to me either. Carpal tunnel syndrome is just one specific condition, and carpal tunnel is an anatomical entity. Let there be a separate article which would explain all that is needed to be explained. --Maxxicum 05:09, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose a disease and a description of anatomy are two different things, they should each have their own page. It would be OK to copy some of the good info on the syndrome page over to the Carpal Tunnel page.
There seems to be a concensus against the merge - I removed the tags 22:15, 5 January 2007 (UTC) --68.235.167.26 (talk) 03:18, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
