Unsourced material
[edit]Hi all, the following was unsourced material in the "trivia" section of this article.
- Caroline flies ultralights and paragliders.
- Her younger brother is Jonathan Paul, a convicted arsonist. Accused by the U.S. federal government of being an eco-terrorist, he is currently serving a sentence of four years, three months for the 1997 arson of the Cavel West Slaughterhouse in Redmond, Oregon. He was a member of the underground Animal Liberation Front.
- An accomplished athlete, she has competed on the U.S. National Luge Team in trials for the Olympics.
If this material can be sourced, please feel free to add it back in again, though not into a trivia section but rather please incorporate it into the main body of the article itself. - Tbsdy lives (talk) 10:27, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Somebody added that back in here without comment or providing sources. I've found sources for the conviction, and a page on Alexandra Paul's website that confirms that this really is her brother (not just some bloke by the same name). But those sources don't support the claim he's an "indicted eco-terrorist" or a "member of the animal liberation front", so I've removed those claims, and we must continue to remove them until reliable sources are given. There's quite a bit more about Jonathon on various eco-news and indymedia sites, but these certainly aren't reliable sources (and anyway, extended discussion of Jonathan doesn't belong on Alexandra's or Caroline's article). - I added a ref (to her own website's bio) for the sports stuff; it doesn't seem terribly contentious. Character Set (talk) 18:36, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- In May of 2007 someone (rightly) removed the category "lesbian writers", as there wasn't any source supporting the assertion that she is a lesbian. The Stanford bio, which I've linked into the article to support other claims, does say she's "openly lesbian". But I've not added the category back, or mentioned it in the article. It just seems like trivia. I've not read her memoir - if her sexual orientation is a significant element of that, then I guess it should be mentioned here - but if not, then dropping it into the article seems no more worthwhile than mentioning her eye colour or favourite brand of cornflakes. I do note, incidentally, that Alexandra's website says the twins won a gay-awareness award, but I couldn't find any mention of it elsewhere, so it doesn't seem like it's a major award (and so I've not mentioned it either).
