Contested move request

Carer → Carers —(Discuss)— Carer as a singular noun is a dictionary definition, not an encylopedia article, whilst Carers signifies a collective social movement in all societies with an aging population that has major social and economic implications —Excalibur 19:37, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is proposed that Carer be renamed and moved to Carers, for the reason that carer is merely a dictionary definition of an individual in an unpaid caring role, whilst Carers is a widely-used term in most English speaking countries to denote a social and political class or movement of persons who look after an elderly or disabled relative or friend without payment. Voluntary caregiver was moved to Carers yesterday (violating the naming convention preferring singular titles and quite possibly WP:ENGVAR as well). A move to Carer would have required a listing here and wouldn't have been uncontroversial - for that matter, the target page wouldn't have been a redirect, although it quite possibly should be. For that reason, Carers should be moved back to Voluntary caregiver, and then we can discuss the correct location of the page in a properly-listed discussion here.
