somewhat LOCAL trivia
[edit]great movie.. very funny.. Curtis and Scotti.
though the film is based on somewhat true-life experiences, i always felt it actually alluded to Camp Lockett..located bout 50 miles east of San Diego, CA (San Diego County, Calif, USA). You even have a link/article re: same; did i do the link correctly??
It (the Camp) has quite a history.. Buffalo Soliders, and of course the WWII Convalescent hospital and Prisoner of War camp, both established in 1944. 76.218.248.127 (talk) 18:30, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- It is a fantastic movie... a long-time favorite. Just yesterday TCM ran an original trailer, which promoted it as comedy laugh-riot, but so much of it is also very dark. Imagine taking the kids, thinking that it was gonna be something like "McHale's Navy." Anyhow... the film deserves a more comprehensive article. In my copious free time I'll try to assemble some noteworthy info.PurpleChez (talk) 13:38, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
